With a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that makes 668 hp (498 kW\/677 PS) and 659 lb-ft (893 Nm) of torque under its hood, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing isn’t shy on power. But some tuners, like Hennessey, are sure that owners want even more, and they’re out to show you why.<\/p>\n

In its latest video, Hennessey decided to pit a standard CT5-V Blackwing<\/a> against its tuned version, which makes 1,000 hp (746 kW\/1,014 PS) at the crank. Appropriately enough, it’s called the CT5-V Blackwing H1000, and you won’t be surprised to learn that the extra power makes a difference on the drag strip.<\/p>\n

Hennessey claims<\/a> that the car is capable of reaching 60 mph (96 km\/h) in just 2.5 seconds, or one whole second faster than it could from the factory. It also claims that the extra oomph can help the Cadillac reach an even higher top speed than the stock 205 mph (330 km\/h).<\/p>\n

But those are just numbers. What does that actually look like when the CT5-V Blackwing<\/a> lines up against the H1000? Hennessey seeks to find out in a video<\/a> that sees the two cars go head-to-head on the drag strip.<\/p>\n

In the first race, the cars (both equipped with the manual transmission) compete in a roll race. Although it takes the tuned model a beat to pull out a lead, once it gets ahead, it just keeps going until, at the finish line, it’s around 10 car lengths in front (by my, admittedly unscientific, estimate).<\/p>\n

In the second race, the cars start from first gear with a short roll-out, and the H1000 jumps out to an early lead. Once again, it runs away from the stock model. That’s hardly a surprise since it makes around 332 hp (248 kW\/337 PS) more, but it’s a nice visual representation of how that extra power expresses itself in the real world.<\/p>\n
