Bourjois had a Healthy Mix Serum foundation before, which it was amazing and I used it for years. Their Healthy Mix Foundation went through many changes – years back they reformulated it in a way that there was no difference between the Foundation and original Serum anymore and eventually that old Serum version got discontinued. Then they reformulated the Foundation again (last year) so it’s not as brilliant anymore, but still very nice especially for dry skin, while they went with the current trend and released the new Serum version as one of those thin, liquid formulas that are all packed in bottles with a pipette (like Catrice, Maybelline and Deborah). I could never find the perfect shade match at any of the lines of Healthy Mix. Lightest shades of Foundations came closest, but their undertones are too strong, so they don’t look as good matches as I’d like and at the new Serum version they didn’t even make light shades with a number 50, so none of the colours work great for me. I’ve never truly warmed up to this new Serum foundation and shades is one the reasons, but also such thin, liquid formulas apparently don’t work on my skin as well as classic foundations, but this formula got plenty of praise from others.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Texture:<\/span> Formula is thin, liquid and blends easily. It’s doesn’t dry too fast, so you have more time to work with it than at for example Catrice’s Liquid Coverage, but at some point it does set, so if I apply it with fingers I have to be quicker than with a damp sponge. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Coverage and finish: <\/span>Coverage is light-medium, compared to the Foundation it\u2019s similar, but it’s a bit lower. Finish is glowy at application and when it sets to an almost dry-to-the-touch feeling it still has a glow. It’s not oily-looking, however, unlike at the Foundation this Serum doesn’t look as skin-like, though I’ve had some good days with it when it looked more natural. It still looks better than the Maybelline’s Serum version, but similar to that one and Catrice’s foundation, it more often than not emphasizes pores and because of that doesn’t look as fresh close up as I’d like. Freshly applied it looks great, but as it sets I wish my skin looked less textured with it. I wore the Foundation and Serum on each side of the face and Foundation side looked smoother despite being on the side where my pores look worse. Both Serum and Foundation version are more suited for normal-dry skin than oily. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Shades:<\/span> Shade range is lacking, as they have two 51 shades and no 50 that I use at HM foundation, so none of the shades match me. I wear 51,2W as it’s less warm toned than 51, but it’s still noticeably too dark. If at least one were neutral or had an undertone that were much softer, they wouldn\u2019t look so mismatched. I swatched the old serum in 51 vs. the new one and 51W is about the same shade as before. I got sent most of the shades, the only one missing is 56W. Shades are overall quite warm, which is typical for Bourjois foundations. <\/p>\n

Staying power: <\/span>Staying power is average, just like at every HM formula so far. These are all hydrating foundations that don’t stick on all well as matte ones, so a powder is needed for better staying power. <\/p>\n

Scent:<\/span> It’s quite a perfumed product with some floral-fruity scent. Personally I like the typical Healthy Mix scent.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Packaging:<\/span> A glass bottle with a pipette. The latter picks up and dispenses product with no problem unlike at some other similar foundations. The neck is large and has no stopper, so this foundation can get messy if you’re not careful. <\/p>\n

Price and availability:<\/span> These are sold in drugstores here (DM, M\u00fcller). Bourjois has been slowly and sneakily raising their prices, since I started buying Healthy Mix Serum\/Foundation formulas so this new foundation is almost 20 \u20ac in Slovenia – you can’t really call it drugstore anymore. It’s 16,5 \u20ac in France. <\/p>\n

I was very excited about this launch and even more excited to see the whole set of these in my mail, so I could do some proper swatches for you. I was sure Bourjois’s serum type formula will work a lot better on me than others, as they rarely disappoint, however, again this tends to emphasize my skin texture. Such thin formulas in general don’t work well on my skin, I don’t know why, though this one looks better than Maybelline’s and Catrice’s versions, but I still prefer the foundation. I’m sure most of you don’t have problems with these new thin formulas, so if you’re looking for something light, glowy and suitable for normal-dry skin (I can’t be sure about other types), this is still worth trying, but bear in mind Bourjois doesn’t have a great shade range.<\/div>\n
