Ford has been prepping the new Mustang GTD to make it the ultimate pony car. The Mustang GTD is slated to debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in June.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve tested the Mustang GTD in North America extensively, including laps at Sebring International Raceway and Virginia International Raceway. This has all been in service of engineering a car that can lap the Nurburgring in under seven minutes,\u201d said Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall. \u201cMoving onto European roads and dedicated test sessions at the Nurburgring is the next step, ahead of a timed run later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following its debut at Le Mans, the Mustang GTD will then make appearances at the 24 Hours of Spa and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.<\/p>\n

The Mustang GTD\u2019s arrival in Europe comes as Europe prepares to begin accepting applications from prospective owners. The application window for North American consumers closed on May 21 with more than 7,500 people applying to purchase a Mustang GTD in the 2025 or 2026 model years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Mustang GTD, we set out to build a road-going race car with the heart of a Mustang and the will to beat Europe\u2019s best. Since opening applications to North American consumers, we\u2019ve seen customers respond to that motivation,\u201d said Mustang GTD Brand Manager Jim Owens. \u201cWhether they own a rival\u2019s sports car or have another Mustang in the stable, the Mustang GTD’s race-derived performance is registering.\u201d<\/p>\n
