Before Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd<\/a> either simply gave a compliment or attempted to stir up controversy in the Boston Celtics locker room by naming Jaylen Brown<\/a> as the opposition’s best player.<\/p>\n

Kidd noted that Brown’s ability to guard someone like Luka Doncic<\/a> while also contributing offensively makes him a valuable asset to the Celtics. Many were surprised to hear this remark, considering that Jayson Tatum<\/a> was named All-NBA First-Team and an MVP candidate.<\/p>\n

“Well, Jaylen is their best player,” Kidd said. “He plays both sides, defense and offense, at a high rate. And he’s been doing that the whole playoffs.” <\/p>\n

However, Brown and Jayson Tatum both stayed out of feeding into it. “I don’t have no reaction,” Brown said about Kidd’s comment.<\/p>\n

Tatum acknowledged that people have attempted to drive a wedge between them over the years, but the team understands it’s all part of the game, and they’re used to it by now. <\/p>\n

“This is a team sport,” Tatum said. “We’ve been in this position for many years of guys trying to divide us and say that one of us should be traded or one is better than the other. So it’s not our first time at the rodeo.”<\/p>\n
