Thanks everyone for your concern; the matter is now closed,&#8221; customer Stephanie posted on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Following the episode that went viral in late April, Chery said that 60 units of the Omoda 5 in Malaysia were identified to be using the affected rear axle, produced on August 15, 2023. The company then decided to cast a wider net and <a href=\"https:\/\/paultan.org\/2024\/04\/30\/chery-malaysia-recalls-600-units-of-omoda-5-over-potential-axle-issue-to-be-replaced-with-new-parts\/\">recall vehicles with parts made between August 14 and 17, totalling 600 units<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsnowbunnie%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0yAg5NUP3wnL1mnq5Gdf68vYbEGBLW1tyxzjvsQcwXxTikPXyrrh5dAfNyGtyw5FGl&#038;width=630&#038;%23038;show_text=true&#038;%23038;height=213&#038;%23038;appId\" width=\"630\" height=\"213\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The root cause of the issue was identified to be a miscalibration of welding equipment at a vendor. &#8220;Following a comprehensive investigation, the vendor reported that the issue was due to a facility upgrade during which a worn-out tip of the automated welding machine was replaced by a new welding tip. The replacement of the new welding tip resulted in a miscalibration of the equipment,&#8221; Chery Auto Malaysia VP <a href=\"https:\/\/paultan.org\/2024\/05\/04\/chery-malaysia-omoda-5-recall-root-cause-of-axle-welding-issue-identified-new-recall-website-now-online\/\">Lee Wen Hsiang explained in May<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All 600 customers have been contacted and as of May 24, <a href=\"https:\/\/paultan.org\/2024\/05\/28\/chery-malaysia-omoda-5-recall-92-of-cars-inspected\/\">Chery had completed 92%
