It\u2019s official: Nissan announced the end of its R35 Nissan GT-R sports car for the North American market. The automaker announced on Friday that production of the R53 GT-R will end in October of this year, but not without a proper sendoff.<\/p>\n

Nissan will offer two special models, a Skyline Edition and Takumi Edition, to celebrate its renowned supercar slayer before the last model leaves the factory for the United States.<\/p>\n

The Skyline Edition will be offered exclusively with a Bayside Blue exterior finish and a matching blue interior. It is based on the pre-existing R35 Nissan GT-R \u201cPremium\u201d sports car model. Meanwhile, the Takumi Edition is inspired by the 2024 GT-R T-Spec and features a few more special touches, like its Midnight Purple paint (which looks more maroon depending on the lighting), wider front fenders, and gold RAYS forged wheels. Behind those wheels are carbon-ceramic brakes. A gold VIN plate appears in the engine bay, and the red writing on the exterior badges is a nod to the takumi, the master craftsmen behind each GT-R.<\/p>\n

Both the Skyline Edition and Takumi Edition are equipped with a 565 horsepower 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transaxle that sends power to all four wheels. Nissan lists the MSRP of the Skyline Edition at $132,985 and the Takumi Edition at $152,985. The total planned production numbers are yet to be announced.<\/p>\n

Nissan wrote in its press release that, while the R35 GT-R leaves an unforgettable legacy, \u201cNissan is now hyperfocused on the future and the next era of exciting innovation in performance.”<\/p>\n
