The ratings appear strong enough to keep it alive, for now.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s something else.<\/p>\n<p>A Donald Trump victory in November <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2024\/06\/19\/joy-behar-trolled-after-claiming-trump-will-cancel-the-view-if-elected\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">could spell the show&#8217;s demise.<\/a> Or so Behar says.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Joy Behar and Rachel Maddow are seriously discussing if President Trump would yank &#8220;The View&#8221; and her MSNBC show off the air.<\/p>\n<p>We used to have insane asylums. I think that he is so vindictive that he will go after, however he has to, whether it\u2019s through the IRS maybe, or even through sponsors to get us off the air maybe or you. How seriously should we be taking that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maddow&#8217;s response?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cWell, so I was asked am I worried about me and my answer was I\u2019m worried about all of us. I\u2019m no worried about me than I am worried about everybody in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a master class in narcissism and projection.<\/p>\n<p>The first is obvious. Imagine a president, even one with as thin a skin as Trump possesses, targeting a daytime talk show for termination. If Trump or any other leader truly embraced his authoritarian side they&#8217;d tackle dozens of targets before a TV show with so little importance.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s absurd, even ignoring that Trump&#8217;s presidency featured zero examples of media censorship of this sort. The <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/weaponization-committee-exposes-biden-white-house-censorship-regime-new-report\"  rel=\"noopener\">Biden administration, on the other hand &#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fear speaks to Behar&#8217;s inflated sense of self, and that&#8217;s being kind. And she&#8217;s not alone.<\/p>\n<p>Far-left personality Chrissy Teigen shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/chrissy-teigen-fears-donald-trump-144524754.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">similarly arrogant thought<\/a> about a second Trump presidency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s also kind of scary because it&#8217;s, &#8216;Oh, he&#8217;s aware of me,&#8217;&#8221; Teigen said, &#8220;What could really happen because of that? We obviously know he&#8217;s unhinged, but could he actually come after you in other ways? It&#8217;s a weird feeling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even by celebrity standards, the self-importance is off the charts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/tulsi-gabbard-donald-trump-jr-the-view\/\"><strong>RELATED: &#8216;THE VIEW&#8217;S&#8217; WORST WEEK EVER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Set that aside.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s another factor that&#8217;s more important and easily overlooked. Progressives are constantly projecting their authoritarian impulses on the Right.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s how they think and, more ominously, behave.<\/p>\n<p>Remember how the Obama White House<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSKBN1CV1TX\/\"  rel=\"noopener\"> leveraged the IRS against conservative groups<\/a>? That actually happened, although the press treated it with all solemnity of the Obama tan suit &#8220;scandal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/view-joy-behar-trump-cancel\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FRIv3R2Qj3XE%2Fhqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube Video\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What about targeting sponsors to take down &#8220;The View?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Liberal groups have been using that tactic for decades. Just ask <a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/letters\/tell-these-advertisers-to-stop-funding-fox-news-now\"  rel=\"noopener\">Tucker Carlson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sign.moveon.org\/petitions\/boycott-rush-limbaughs-1\"  rel=\"noopener\">Rush Limbaugh<\/a>, two conservative speakers who faced serial attacks from progressive groups on that front.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DesignationSix?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DesignationSix<\/a>: Tucker Carlson Justifies Kyle Rittenhouse&#8217;s murders. A doctor who blew the whistle on gender surgery practices is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/texas-doctor-charged-with-obtaining-confidential-patient-information-on-transgender-care\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">facing 10 years in jail.<\/a> A nurse who voiced similar concerns got a knock on the door from FBI agents.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is where we are now: The Biden Administration sent two FBI agents to intimidate a nurse who told the truth about the child sex-change program at Texas Children&#8217;s Hospital. The latter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/06\/13\/nx-s1-5005025\/justice-department-garland-contempt\"  rel=\"noopener\">won&#8217;t be seeing the inside of a jail cell<\/a>, though.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all projection. All of it.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s plenty of reason to dismiss what&#8217;s said on &#8220;The View,&#8221; arguably the least substantive show on modern TV.
