Lexus has long been a leader in luxury SUVs, but until now, it lacked a three-row crossover with a truly usable third row. The previous RX L attempted to fill this gap but fell short with its cramped third row. Enter the 2024 Lexus TX, a big SUV designed to comfortably accommodate the whole family.<\/p>\n

Unlike the RX L, the TX is not just an extended version of one of the brand’s other SUVs. Instead it shares its platform with the Toyota Grand Highlander<\/a>, yet the TX stands out with a more stylish exterior. Sharp lines and a distinctive grille align the TX with the rest of the Lexus lineup, making it a more attractive option for buyers that want a bit more style from their family’s SUV.<\/p>\n

Inside, the TX impresses with a well-designed dashboard and high-quality materials that surpass its Toyota counterpart. The standard 14-inch infotainment screen and the 12.3-inch digital gauge display look and feel modern. The cabin in the TX 550h+ feels and looks luxurious with its semi-aniline seats. The front and second-row seats are spacious and comfortable, and unlike many competitors, the third row in the TX is genuinely usable for adults, setting a new standard in the segment.<\/p>\n

The TX 500h F Sport is powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain with a total 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and a 64-kW motor. At the rear there’s a 76-kW electric motor to power the rear wheels, giving the TX all-wheel drive. One other plus is that the 500h F Sport features rear steering to make the large SUV feel more agile. The TX 500h can accelerate from 0-60 mph in only 6.1 seconds. It’s also rated at 27 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined.<\/p>\n

If you want to take things a step further, in the green direction, there’s the TX 500h+ plug-in hybrid.<\/p>\n

The TX 500h+ is a stand out with its powertrain. It’s powered by a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine and two electric motors to deliver 404 horsepower. The good new is that the PHEV powertrain provides an 33 miles of electric-only range, making it ideal for short commutes to and from the office or dropping the kids off at school. While the TX 500h+ offers almost 40 more horsepower than the non-plug-in 500h, the driving experience remains similar due to the additional weight of the hybrid system. The TX 500h+ has a 29 mpg combined rating and can be fully charged in about three hours using a 240-volt charger.<\/p>\n

On the road, the the TX 500h feels lively and capable. It has a sportier driving experience than you’d likely expect from a family-oriented three-row SUV, but it’s easy. The powertrain thanks to its two electric motors packs a punch immediately as soon as the light ahead of you turns green. While we’re used to most SUVs in this class being a bit boring to drive, the TX 500h is a stand out.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Lexus 500h F Sport starts at $69,350, while the pricing for the TX 500h+ starts at $78,050.<\/p>\n
