Lexus<\/a> has slashed thousands of pounds from the prices\u00a0of most of its line-up.<\/p>\n

The Japanese brand, which serves as Toyota<\/a>‘s luxury arm, has most notably cut the price of its entry-level electric model, the UX 300e<\/a>, by up to \u00a37100. The range now starts at\u00a0\u00a340,795.<\/p>\n

Its EV stablemate\u00a0the RZ 450e\u00a0has been cut to \u00a357,895 for the standard car, \u00a32100 less than what it was in April.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The hybrid NX 450h+ and flagship RX 450h+, which are the brand’s most expensive PHEV<\/a>s, have been cut from\u00a0\u00a354,950 to \u00a349,995 and from \u00a367,100\u00a0to \u00a363,995\u00a0respectively.<\/p>\n

No price cuts have been given to the\u00a0LBX<\/a>, which went on sale earlier this year from \u00a329,995.<\/p>\n

The price adjustments are likely to be part of a push by the brand to stimulate\u00a0stagnating sales: last month the UK’s new car market grew just 1.1%, propped up by fleets (up 14.2%) amid a 15.3% decline in the private sales.<\/p>\n

Any reinvigoration would put Lexus on course for its best\u00a0year in the UK. The car maker<\/span>\u00a0sold some 8000 cars in the first six months of 2024, more than half of last year’s record-breaking 15,963.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Slashing the RZ and UX prices also\u00a0indicates that Lexus is looking to secure its ZEV mandate target early (by law, 22% of a car maker’s total sales in 2024 must be made up of EVs), given slowing demand for electric models in the private market (down 11% year to date).\u00a0Lexus’s EV sales share is currently around 30%.<\/p>\n

Autocar has approached Lexus for comment.<\/p>\n

Other manufacturers are also offering price cuts, albeit in the form of deposit contributions. For example, Audi<\/a> is offering a \u00a314,000 contribution on the E-tron GT<\/a>, BMW<\/a> \u00a34167 towards the iX<\/a> xDrive 50 M Sport\u00a0and Volvo<\/a> \u00a38000 towards the XC40<\/a> Recharge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
