Prime Video has released a new teaser trailer for Bruce Timm<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Batman: Caped Crusader<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and it puts the spotlight on three lesser-known DC villains who will be appearing in Bruce Timm\u2019s upcoming animated series.<\/p>\n

The three villains that the promo focuses on include Firebug, Gentleman Ghost, and Natalia Knight. Firebug is voiced by Tom Kenny<\/strong> (SpongeBob SquarePants<\/em>), and he is a pyromaniac.<\/p>\n

Gentleman Ghost is voiced by Percy Jackson<\/em>\u2019s Toby Stephens<\/strong>, and he\u2019s depicted as an actual ghost with supernatural powers.<\/p>\n

Natalia Knight, a.k.a. Nocturna is voiced by Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire<\/em> star Mckenna Grace<\/strong>, Natalia Knight, a.k.a. Nocturna, and she finds herself in action at night due to having photosensitive skin. The teaser also hints at this sensitivity and also teases that she\u2019ll be able to suck energy from other people.<\/p>\n

The description for the series reads: \u201cWelcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. <\/p>\n

\u201cForged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human\u2014the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timm previously explained<\/a> that this series is set in the very early crime-fighting career of Batman: \u201cBatman is so early in his career that in the first episode, he\u2019s still an urban myth.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to say: \u201cIt\u2019s not Year One<\/em>,\u201d referring to the Frank Miller<\/strong> and David Mazzucchelli<\/strong> Batman<\/em> origin comic. \u201cIt\u2019s more like \u2018Week Two\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timm added: \u201cI wanted to make him kind of weird, and spooky. If you\u2019re stuck in a room with Batman, whether you\u2019re Commissioner Gordon or Barbara Gordon or Renee Montoya, you don\u2019t feel comfortable. You\u2019re kind of like, \u2018What is this guy? What\u2019s this all about?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

The cast includes<\/a> Hamish Linklater<\/strong> (Midnight Mass<\/em>) as Batman, Christina Ricci<\/strong> as Selina Kyle \/ Catwoman, Jamie Chung<\/strong> is Dr. Harleen Quinzel \/ Harley Quinn, and former Batman voice actor Diedrich Bader<\/strong> is set to play Harvey Dent \/ Two-Face.<\/p>\n

Other cast members include Minnie Driver<\/strong>, Eric Morgan Stuart<\/strong>, Michelle C. Bonilla<\/strong>, Krystal Joy Brown<\/strong>, John DiMaggio<\/strong>, McKenna Grace<\/strong>, Jason Watkins<\/strong>, Paul Scheer<\/strong>, Reid Scott<\/strong>, Gary Anthony Williams<\/strong>, Dan Donohue<\/strong>, David Krumholtz<\/strong>, Haley Joel Osment<\/strong>, and Toby Stephens<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

This animated series has been in development for some time with Timm, J.J. Abrams<\/strong><\/a>, Matt Reeves<\/strong><\/a>, and comic writer Ed Brubaker<\/strong><\/a> leading the charge.<\/p>\n

Batman: Caped Crusader<\/em> premieres this August 1 on Prime Video.<\/p>\n
