These are two brains on identity politics run wild.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 2019 Kamala Harris Tweet about actor Jussie Smollett\u2019s alleged assault speaks of their mutual enablement as users.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JussieSmollett?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JussieSmollett<\/a> is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I\u2019m praying for his quick recovery.<\/p>\n<p>This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KamalaHarris\/status\/1090361495119187969?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 29, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Harris suggested she knows Smollett and that he suffered a \u201cmodern-day lynching.\u201d She publicly drank in his ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that post is still up to avoid the attention that taking it down would draw.<\/p>\n<p>Smollett\u2019s &#8220;attack&#8221; on that cold Chicago night was brought on by his imagination, according to local police. Evidence led to his conviction on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/jussie-smollett-verdict-guilty-disorderly-conduct-fake-hate-crime-attack\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">five counts of disorderly conduct<\/a>. He was found guilty of paying for street acting and props that simulated an assault. He also lied to the Chicago Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The judge reprimanded Smollett for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/tv\/story\/2022-03-10\/jussie-smollett-sentenced-lying-about-hate-crime\"  rel=\"noopener\">causing social harm.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the media initially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/jussie-smollett-empire-good-morning-america-interview\/5625\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">boosted the hoax<\/a>, running with the \u201cMAGA Country\u201d attack line. Was believing a fake narrative something new in Harris\u2019 career, or was she primed to draw false conclusions from enacted scripts?<\/p>\n<p>When the 1986 Howard University graduate benefited from the Hastings\u2019 Legal Educational Opportunity Program, did she believe her background, which included being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelist.com\/235746\/the-untold-story-of-kamala-harris-childhood\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">raised by university professors<\/a>, was \u201cadverse\u201d among Americans as claimed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uclawsf.edu\/academics\/academic-success\/legal-education-opportunity-program\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">by the program<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>When Harris was an Assistant District Attorney in Oakland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/kamala-harris-affair-willie-brown\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">dating the California Speaker of the State Assembly, Willie Brown,<\/a> did she believe that, out of all the qualified professionals in California, she merited two statewide appointments by Brown?<\/p>\n<p>Brown has admitted the facts of their relationship and acknowledged it influenced Harris\u2019 career trajectory. Does Harris believe that those resume-building state government appointments were based on integrity, as she subsequently became San Francisco District Attorney, leapfrogged to California Attorney General and glided to election as a California Senator?<\/p>\n<p>These examples reveal a mindset awash in unrealities that reinforce themselves in her role. She amplifies lies, and the world is <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4287064\/negotiating-the-nonnegotiable\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">further divided<\/a> between like-minded tools that accede to her increases in power\u2013and everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s rarely an easy way to help such mindsets see the truth. Even this summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jussie-smollett-new-movie-denzel-washington-acting-break-1235926035\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Smollett has declared:<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and let everybody think that you\u2019re crazy, that you\u2019re shady, that you\u2019re a fraud, whatever they\u2019re going to think. And then they\u2019ll figure it out. They\u2019ll figure it out because I can\u2019t sit here forever trying to explain\u2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">There are so many things on the opposite side that are intentionally trying to devalue us. We must be intentional with our Blackness. We must be intentional with our queerness.
