But a series vocally establishing their supposed three-season-arc, how it was all supposed to come to an end the way it did, and proudly airing the <em>series finale,<\/em> only to aim for <em>another <\/em>season? Well, <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/Ted-Lasso\/\"><strong><em>Ted Lasso<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em> <\/em>seems to have pulled a Ted Lasso.<\/p>\n<p>It has been exclusively reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/08\/ted-lasso-season-4-deal-near-brett-goldstein-hannah-waddingham-1236049653\/\">Deadline<\/a> that Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/celebrities\/hannah-waddingham-winning-2024s-golden-globes-and-emmys-wont-make-a-dent-unless-one-crucial-detail-is-fixed\/\">Hannah Waddingham as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/brett-goldstein\/\">Brett Goldstein<\/a> as hardman Roy Kent, and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/jeremy-swift\/\">Jeremy Swift<\/a>, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins. Jason Sudeikis is also involved in extending the life of the show, though his contract, as well as that of Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple, has expired, so the studio will be drawing new SAG-AFTRA contracts for them.<\/p>\n<p>It remains uncertain whether the likes of Phil Dunster and Nick Mohammed will also be returning to season 4 of <em>Ted Lasso, <\/em>though the majority of the cast has expressed interest in reprising their respective roles in the future. But that was when <em>Ted Lasso <\/em>could do no wrong and its sinking season 3 wasn\u2019t supposed to get a follow-up.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-but-why-is-ted-lasso-getting-a-season-4\">But why is <em>Ted Lasso <\/em>getting a season 4?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just when the world needed them most. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TedLasso?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TedLasso<\/a> and the gang are returning! <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/72x72\/1f389.png\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf89\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GyUaxbm2sI\">pic.twitter.com\/GyUaxbm2sI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Batarang To The Butt (@TheBatBen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBatBen\/status\/1827467234522100157?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s not just that the season 3 finale was explicitly and officially the series finale \u2014 there is also the sentiment, shoehorned multiple times by various cast members including series creator and star Sudeikis, that the Apple TV Plus show was always, <em>always <\/em>supposed\/destined\/decided to be a three-season deal.<\/p>\n<p>Back in March 2023, Sudeikis clearly told <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2023\/03\/jason-sudeikis-ted-lasso-season-3-spoilers-series-finale-spinoffs-1235280998\/\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a> that &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tv\/this-is-a-piece-of-magic-jason-sudeikis-eye-watering-speech-to-ted-lasso-cast-will-melt-your-heart\/\">this is the end of this story<\/a> that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.&#8221; Goldstein also stressed that \u201cthe show was always intended to have a three-season arc\u201d and Hunt defined \u201cpretty cool\u201d to <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/tv\/ted-lasso-jason-sudeikis-three-seasons\/\"><em>EW<\/em><\/a> by saying how they were going to \u201cstick to our guns and really just do three seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uhm. Okay, it might all be the fault of Sudeikis\u2019 self-fulfilling prophecy.<\/p>\n<p>In his chat with Deadline, Sudeikis acknowledged the persevering love for the show and how fans wanted it to run longer. But, underlining and repeating the three-season lifeline of the series he hoped that once all 12 episodes of the season 3 were out, fans would be like \u201cMan, you know what, we get it, we\u2019re fine. We don\u2019t need anymore, we got it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what happened.<\/p>\n<p>While hardcore fans of <em>Ted Lasso <\/em>refused to accept that its plot lost its thread in the third season and bloated episodes him haphazard character arcs infected its run, the majority of the fandom admitted with a broken heart that yes, after two glorious seasons that won multiple Emmy and Golden Globes, the sports comedy had bungled the ball and didn\u2019t just lose its spark but dunked it in the kiddy pool.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">series finale so bad they have to come back for another season to fix it<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; \ud835\udfd2\u2019\ud835\udfd7 \ud835\udc6b\ud835\udc82\ud835\udc97\ud835\udc8a\ud835\udc8f\ud835\udc82 \ud835\udc6d\ud835\udc82\ud835\udc9a\ud835\udc86\ud835\udc95\ud835\udc95\ud835\udc86 (@davinafayette) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davinafayette\/status\/1827469159254384762?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>So, either Warner Bros\u2019 wants to cash in on what remains of the enduring love for the series, or the desperation to right the wrongs and end the show with a bang is the cause, or it could be both. In either scenario, long-standing fans of <em>Ted Lasso <\/em>will sit down to watch its new season whenever it lands. The big question is whether it will end with fixing what it broke or leave behind an even bigger chasm that can never be overcome, triggering ire-filled questions of whether Lasso and team
