Joel Kinnaman<\/strong><\/a> was one of the few actors who made the jump from David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad<\/em> to return for James Gunn’s revamped <\/em><\/strong>The Suicide Squad<\/em>, but his character, Rick Flag, unfortunately wasn\u2019t in the minority of antiheroes that survived the flick. Flag was killed by Peacemaker (John Cena<\/strong>) after threatening to leak the Starro files, and everyone assumed this was the last time we\u2019d see the military man. <\/p>\n

Then, earlier this year, Peacemaker <\/em>Season 2 director Peter Sollett<\/strong> tagged Joel Kinnaman in his social media post announcing that he’d completed filming his episodes, seemingly confirming that the actor was set to reprise his role for the Max spin-off series.<\/p>\n

So it was natural for Screen Rant<\/strong><\/a> to ask Kinnaman about this during an interview with the actor about his new movie, The Silent Hour<\/em>, to which the actor gave a surprisingly blunt response.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know what to say. That’s ridiculous. I would never. I would never be on a show like that. It’s not what I do. It’s not what I do.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This means one of two things- Kinnaman was trying to throw fans off and make them think he wasn\u2019t returning to the role, even though he is. Or, he really believes he is above the series, and wouldn\u2019t think of making an appearance. But this seems so absurd, because how is Peacemaker<\/em> that different from The Suicide Squad<\/em>? It\u2019s really not, so I\u2019m hoping it\u2019s just the first option. I guess we will just have to wait and see when Peacemaker<\/em> season 2 returns to MAX in 2025.<\/p>\n
