The legacy media weaponized a tasteless joke to torpedo Donald Trump\u2019s presidential race.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It failed, but not for lack of trying.<\/p>\n

Rebel comic Tony Hinchcliffe uncorked a brutal quip directed at Puerto Rico<\/a> at Trump\u2019s Madison Square Garden Oct 7 rally. The New York Times\u2019 coverage<\/a> proved typical of the media\u2019s relentless narrative.<\/p>\n

What corrupt reporters downplayed, for obvious reasons, was the crowd\u2019s reaction to the joke. It bombed.<\/p>\n

Turns out MAGA nation sensed a tacky quip when they heard it. Even Hinchcliffe admitted it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, all right. We\u2019re getting there. Normally I don\u2019t follow the National Anthem,\u201d Hinchcliffe said, backpedaling in real time.<\/p>\n

Now, compare that to the Left\u2019s reaction to the man who allegedly killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.<\/p>\n

Luigi Mangione has killer abs, a broad smile and a vendetta against the U.S. health care system. Progressive politicians like Sen. Elizabeth Warren<\/a> and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> were among several who criticized the killing, only to add \u201cBut \u2026\u201d to their statements.<\/p>\n

Chances are a MAGA rally wouldn\u2019t cheer Mangione\u2019s name in any setting, but liberal late-night TV watchers have had a similar reaction to some progressive politicians.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Jon Stewart of \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d alerted his audience that Mangione had been captured after a brief manhunt.<\/p>\n

The crowd\u2019s reaction? Boos.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I\u2019m sorry, guys,\u201d Stewart said without missing a beat. Did he know something we didn\u2019t? Was he truly \u201csorry\u201d that an alleged killer had been corralled?<\/p>\n

Where was his patented outrage shtick? In his other sports coat?<\/p>\n

Over at \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!,\u201d the host shared his colleagues\u2019 lust for Mangione despite his alleged crime. Turns out \u201cKimmel\u201d female staffers dig his abs without caring about what he\u2019s accused of doing \u2013 killing a father and husband in cold blood.<\/p>\n

Another show might have scrapped the bit, unwilling to publicly embarrass its staffers. Not \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/p>\n

The bit aired with a few chuckles from the same host who cried on camera over Donald Trump\u2019s Nov. 5 victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Priorities.<\/p>\n

The best coal-black humor makes a salient point. This shtick proved gross and all-too-revealing.<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d The show renowned for its hard-Left bias mentioned Mangione during the most recent episode. He\u2019s in the news, so the topic was fair game.<\/p>\n

The response was, sadly, predictable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeekend Update\u201d co-anchor Colin Jost heard what The New York Post called \u201craucous cheers<\/a>\u201d erupting after he name-checked the alleged murderer.<\/p>\n

Jost seemed to be surprised by the response, glancing offstage and awkwardly smiling while sarcastically quipping to the audience, \u201cYeah, definitely \u2018woo,\u2019 \u201d and rhetorically asking, \u201cYou\u2019re \u2018wooing\u2019 for justice, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

Not exactly. Try vigilante justice of the worst kind.<\/p>\n

If this had happened once or even twice it could be written off. Three times? On three different hard-Left showcases? Writing it off would be a mistake.<\/p>\n

Why are late-night TV audiences cheering on Mangione?  It\u2019s a complex constellation of reasons, from the Left\u2019s embrace of political violence to our increasingly divided age.<\/p>\n

One possible culprit? Late-Night TV.<\/p>\n

These propaganda shows have been dehumanizing their political opponents for years. Trump is Hitler \u2026 and his fans are just as bad.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s \u201cSNL\u201d literally saying that in a sketch that aired during Trump\u2019s first presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cConan” invited comic Sarah Silverman to goosestep across the stage as Adolf Hitler, purportedly tying him to Trump in her comic worldview.<\/p>\n

\"YouTube<\/a><\/p>\n

The late-night audience doesn\u2019t look at Thompson and see someone with a family that will miss him dearly. They see an ideological foe unworthy of empathy. And, yes, most Americans have been negatively impacted by the current health care system, from denied claims to far worse results.<\/p>\n

The status quo is maddening at times, and few politicians are offering solid alternatives or solutions. That’s on them and, by extension, us.<\/p>\n

Killing a prominent health care CEO is the worst way to address the issue.<\/p>\n

Tell that to Mangione\u2019s fan base. To them, he\u2019s the hero of this story, not someone accused of an assassination.<\/p>\n

These late-night comics might want to reconsider the material they share across the media landscape. Why are their fans inclined to cheer for an alleged murderer? Why are liberals so eager to turn a potential monster into a hero?<\/p>\n

Did they play a role in this attitude shift? Even more important?<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s well past time for them to tackle the Mangione fans head on with humor and sharp observations. They\u2019re political satirists, after all. What better way to address that warped ideology than jokes skewering those who deify murderers?<\/p>\n

The Babylon Bee already took a hard swing at the problem.<\/p>\n
