Daihatsu has announced its vehicle exhibits for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, which is set to take place at the Makuhari Messe next month, on January 10 to 12, 2025. For this edition, the automaker is set to display seven cars, based on motorsports and community themes.<\/p>\n

The motorsport section will be led by the Mira e:S GR Sport Concept, which is based on the LA350 Mira e:S that made its debut back in 2017<\/a>. It has been spruced up for the occasion with the inclusion of new front and rear bumpers and sports seats, complete with GR badging. There’s a change in the running gear as well, with the study gaining a 660 cc turbocharged mill and a five-speed manual transmission.<\/p>\n

There’s no mention of output, but this should be the regulation 64 PS and 92 Nm available from the automaker’s 660 cc turbo KF engine, which is a bump from the 49 PS and 57 Nm coming off the base car’s F 658 cc naturally-aspirated three-pot. While tagged as a concept, there’s a likelihood that this one could follow the same path taken by the Copen GR Sport Concept<\/a> from 2019, which made it into production form later that year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two other motorsports-based vehicles are the Mira e:S and Copen GR Sport motorsports models. The racing version of the Mira has competed in the All Japan Rally Championship, GR Rally Challenge and similar events. It too features a turbocharged 660 cc engine and a five-speed manual transmission, but gets the racing works, with these coming in the form of different wheels, racing livery and the inclusion of a six-point roll cage, with the rear seats removed. <\/p>\n

As for the Copen GR Sport race car, its engine displacement has been increased from the usual 660 cc to 770 cc, with the mill remaining turbocharged. The roadster, which competed in the 2024 Rally Japan, features 40 mm wider fenders as well as a six-point roll cage.<\/p>\n

Straddling the two themes is the Hijet Truck Jumbo Extend2, which the company tags as a support vehicle for motorsport activities. The main novelty with this one is its sliding cargo space cover. Elsewhere, there’s the Atrai Wildranger2, which is badged as a disaster prevention support vehicle. Highlights include as a hard cargo carrier, external power supply and an original disaster prevention set storage box.<\/p>\n

The remaining two display cars are the Hijet Truck Lift disaster relief vehicle and Hijet Truck Tool Base. The former has been designed from lessons learnt during the heavy rain disaster in northern Kyushu in July 2023. Specific components include solar panels, portable power sources, high-pressure cleaning devices and a lift an original lift. As for the Hijet tool base, it features a tool base that can be placed on the loading platform to improve the working environment at construction sites.<\/p>\n

The displays won’t only be shown at TAS 2025, as they are set to make an appearance at the Osaka Auto Messe 2025, which runs from February 7 to 9.<\/p>\n
