The DCU\u2019s future just got a little more interesting with Jason Momoa<\/strong><\/a> officially being cast as Lobo<\/a>, DC’s intergalactic bounty hunter. <\/p>\n

The announcement, made by Momoa and later confirmed by DC Studios head James Gunn, has ignited excitement among fans. The Aquaman<\/em> star will first appear as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

Adding fuel to the excitement, John Wick<\/em> and Deadpool 2<\/em> director David Leitch<\/strong><\/a> has expressed a strong interest in directing a solo Lobo<\/em><\/strong><\/a> movie with Momoa. <\/p>\n

Leitch reportedly pitched the project directly to the actor. Considering Leitch\u2019s knack for stylish action and irreverent humor, his potential involvement could be a perfect match for the ultra-violent, foul-mouthed antihero.<\/p>\n

The road to bringing Lobo to the big screen has been rocky. Directors like Guy Ritchie<\/strong>, Brad Peyton<\/strong>, and even Michael Bay<\/strong> have attempted to adapt the character over the years. <\/p>\n

Dwayne Johnson<\/strong> was at one point linked to the role, but none of these projects came to fruition. Momoa\u2019s casting finally makes the long-awaited cinematic debut of Lobo a reality.<\/p>\n

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow<\/em>, Lobo\u2019s role may be more than just a cameo. According to the comic\u2019s writer Tom King, the story initially began as a Lobo-Supergirl team-up. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat book began as me pitching a Lobo\/Supergirl book. It was my editors, Brittany Holzherr and Jamie Rich, who said, \u2018No, take Lobo out and make Supergirl the Rooster Cogburn character.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

While the comic ultimately focused on Supergirl, it seems the film adaptation will bring Lobo back into the mix.<\/p>\n

Supergirl is being directed by Cruella<\/em>\u2019s Craig Gillespie<\/strong> with a screenplay by Ana Nogueira<\/strong>, and it promises an interstellar revenge quest. <\/p>\n

The film follows Supergirl as she journeys across the galaxy with Krypto the Superdog, meeting a young woman named Ruthye and embarking on a mission fueled by vengeance. Lobo’s inclusion as a major player hints at a dynamic clash or partnership between the two characters.<\/p>\n

It would be awesome to see David Leitch get to direct a Lobo movie, I have no doubt that he would deliver an epic, over-the-top, intergalactic adventure.<\/p>\n

Until then, all eyes are on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow<\/em> to see how this new chapter of DC unfolds.<\/p>\n
