Geely Auto evidently went great guns last year, announcing it sold 2,176,567 vehicles in the last 12 months. That’s a 32% increase over 2023, mirroring the continuous improvement of its cars.<\/p>\n

Exports have been a particular highlight of Geely’s 2024, with sales surging 53% to 403,923 units. The company is currently focused on delivering its first global electric vehicle, the EX5<\/a> SUV (sold in China as the Galaxy E5<\/a>), to more markets \u2013 specifically in Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n

The car was launched in Thailand<\/a> and Hong Kong in late November and early December respectively \u2013 too late in the year to make a significant impact on these figures \u2013 and is set to arrive in Indonesia and Australia<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

\"Geely<\/a><\/p>\n

The move caused some consternation locally as it was seen as Geely reneging on its promise<\/a> to stay out of the ASEAN region<\/a> and leave that area for Proton. The company responded by saying that Proton remains its production and R&D hub for Southeast Asia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In any case, Proton will still sell its EX5 twin, the eMas 7<\/a>, in Singapore, where the national carmaker has already appointed parallel importer Vincar as its official distributor. The company will also sell the car in Trinidad and Tobago, Nepal and Mauritius<\/a>, with Brunei also tipped to be included if the car’s ASEAN NCAP crash test report<\/a> is to be believed.<\/p>\n
