Perhaps the stars read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/11\/08\/style\/celebrity-endorsements-trump-harris.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">story<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/4981514-celebrity-endorsements-democrats\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">story<\/a> suggesting Americans are burned out by celebrity endorsements and tweaked their activism.<\/p>\n<p>Or they&#8217;re waiting for an excuse to resume their ResistanceTM ways. Like, for instance, Oscar season.<\/p>\n<p>The awards calendar heats up Sunday with the Golden Globes telecast. Even Jimmy Kimmel, one of late-night TV&#8217;s most aggressive partisans, dialed down the rhetoric during the past two Oscar telecasts.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump wasn&#8217;t in the Oval Office over this period. Did that make all the difference?<\/p>\n<p>Jan. 5&#8217;s Globes telecast will tell us plenty about Hollywood&#8217;s resistance frame of mind. It also will share how Oscar season might play out.<\/p>\n<p>Will Glaser bring a political edge to her monologue? The feisty comic insists Trump jokes are off the table, but that isn&#8217;t written in stone. Previous award shows have taken a politics-free pledge only to shatter it later.<\/p>\n<p>Are actors eager to shred President-Elect Trump during their acceptance speeches? Will comic hosts roast the &nbsp;former and future president, ratings be darned?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/hollywood-trump-resistance-golden-globes\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2F7Zenv4ES2m0%2Fhqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube Video\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, will the stars realize Hollywood is in a precarious state and stick to the films and TV shows in question? The latter may be the most likely outcome. (It also partially explains the so-called silence from Team Hollywood post-Nov. 5)<\/p>\n<p>The film industry&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2025\/01\/03\/nolte-2024-domestic-box-office-down-23-5-percent-compared-to-five-years-ago\/\"  rel=\"noopener\"> box office totals shrank in 2024<\/a>. Streaming platforms are struggling to make a profit. Production staffers are mulling other lines of work during the industry&#8217;s contraction.<\/p>\n<p>The looming threat of A.I.-generated content hangs over the town&#8217;s head. Consumers can watch slickly produced YouTube channels, content made at a fraction of the price point of any given network show, over broadcast fare.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s no wonder some stars might stay mum on the political front.<\/p>\n<p>The other possibility?
