Mitsubishi is next to reveal its slate of customised vehicles for the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, happening from January 10 to 12. Given that it does not have many vehicles in its lineup, the Japanese carmaker has chosen to focus on its lynchpins \u2013 the Outlander<\/a> SUV and Triton<\/a> pick-up.<\/p>\n

The most interesting of these is an Outlander PHEV<\/a> that’s been inspired by the long-running stealth video game franchise Metal Gear Solid<\/em>, in partnership with series creator Konami. The latter is gearing up to release Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater<\/em>, a remake of the iconic PlayStation 2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater<\/em>, this year.<\/p>\n

Fittingly, the Night Seeker Concept, as it’s so called, wears a black camouflage livery with the Metal Gear Solid<\/em> script and a logo from the game’s Foxhound unit on the D-pillars, along with several military-chic caution labels.<\/p>\n

You’ll also find chunky overfenders that protrude from the fenders, a distinctive transparent front bumper shield, knobbly off-road tyres, geometric wheel covers and an angular roof rack with straps leading up to the bonnet. A roof-mounted light bar and auxiliary lamps on the A-pillars have also been fitted.<\/p>\n

No mechanical changes were mentioned, so expect the Night Seeker to soldier on with the regular Outlander PHEV’s updated powertrain, consisting of a 136 PS\/203 Nm 2.4 litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 116 PS\/255 Nm front and 136 PS\/195 Nm rear electric motor. Total system output is rated at 306 PS, while a 22.7 kWh battery provides an all-electric range of 86 km on the WLTP cycle.<\/p>\n

Next up is the Delica D:5<\/a> Black Edition Active Seeker, which doesn’t appear to have an MGS<\/em> connection but instead features the topography of Tokachi, Hokkaido, where Mitsubishi’s proving ground is located. This rugged 4×4 MPV also gets a roof rack (here doubling as a tent) and auxiliary lights, along with beefy side steps and KMC KM545 beadlock wheels.<\/p>\n

Last but not least are the two Tritons. The first is a Yamabuki Orange GSR (or Athlete to us) customised by Japanese comedian Hiromi, who serves as Mitsubishi’s brand ambassador. The idea is to take an off-road-capable pick-up truck and making it better suited to urban environments by slamming it to the ground and giving it a bodykit and a delicious set of Volk Racing TE37 ultra wheels. There’s also a bonnet visor, overfenders, a fuel filler door appliqu\u00e9, taillight guards and a sports bar with an integrated spoiler.<\/p>\n

The second is a black lifted Triton that’s been outfitted with a full DJ booth in the bed and on the roof. The custom truck was created to support Red Bull Japan’s dance events and other activities. Mitsubishi has also organised a custom Triton contest in Japan and the winning truck will be displayed at the show.<\/p>\n

Also set to be showcased is the Triton race truck used for last year’s Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR)<\/a> in Thailand, as well as the upgraded Delica D:5 and Delica Mini support vehicles.<\/p>\n
