She took her talents to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onefootdown.com\/\">Notre Dame<\/a>, where she played wing because her team needed that. But in the meantime, she lost her passion for basketball. After three years in South Bend (2019-22), she transferred to DePaul for her senior and graduate seasons (2022-24) and regained the love of the game.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fV0kv7\">\n<div style=\"left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UpnttKVTAFY?rel=0\" style=\"top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; border: 0;\" allowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"z5mfjL\">Peoples currently is dominating in Portugal, playing for Basquete de Barcelos in the Portuguese Liga Feminina\u2014and just enjoying whatever life brings. She recently spoke to <em>Swish Appeal<\/em> about being coached by her dad, her favorite Portuguese sweets and, most importantly, working with a mental coach in order to find who she really is. Some of the highlight from the conversation include: <\/p>\n<h4 id=\"ZXmboy\"><strong>On being coached by her dad:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p id=\"kPf8eb\">If I told you, \u201cOh, it was so easy, he would yell at me at court and we would be the best friends at home,\u201d that would be the biggest lie of 2025. It was extremely hard. Every athlete whose parent coaches them can relate. As I\u2019m looking at my coach, I\u2019m looking at my dad. I\u2019m not calling him \u201ccoach,\u201d I\u2019m calling him \u201cdad,\u201d during practice, during a game, and that\u2019s how I see him&#8230;I don\u2019t regret playing for my dad at all. I loved playing for my dad. Now I\u2019m more appreciative of that than ever, but just knowing, at the end of the day, you\u2019re not only getting yelled at by your coach, but also by your dad as well. And you\u2019re going home to him!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"o9t9Ad\"><strong>On working with a mental coach:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p id=\"t256Dh\">I credit everything to this. Derek Grant (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/dgmindset\/?hl=en\">@dgmindset on Instagram<\/a>) and I would meet once a week and we would just talk about the deep stuff, like, \u201cWhy do you feel this way? Why do you think they look at you like this? Why do you think they perceive you like this? Why do you perceive yourself like this?\u201d A lot of work. Journaling, meditating, podcasts. And if I didn\u2019t go through what I went through at Notre Dame\u2014the injuries, not playing well\u2014I would never got to this part of myself. You just have to go through things and see life from a different perspective sometimes [to see] what it\u2019s trying to teach you and how are you going to learn from this.<\/p>\n<hr
