The WNBL is using its platform to highlight issues that have a hurtful impact on women\u2019s lives all over the world. Sports are not mere distraction\u2014and they never should be.<\/p>\n<p id=\"J20ABB\">But in order for sports to effectively amplify social concerns, the sport itself must be compelling. And luckily for us, there\u2019s been some serious hooping going on in the WNBL in recent weeks, so let\u2019s recap, with our focus being on two Atlanta Dream players.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"naeZQD\"><strong>Hillmon is lone bright spot for struggling Southside<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"xQvhIe\">Last year\u2019s champions, the Southside Flyers, are the worst team in the league. With a 4-12 record, they\u2019re third in points scored, but also second to last in points allowed. Only five players on the roster shoot with at least 50 percent accuracy from the floor, two of which have made fewer than three shot attempts in total, so the real number of accurate shooters is three. <\/p>\n<p id=\"hACVYn\">The most accurate, and hence the primary focus of their offense, is the Naz Hillmon, who\u2019s averaging 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. She\u2019s making 57 percent of her shots and individually looks great. What makes her achievement even more impressive is that her team\u2019s been dealing with several injuries, which not only explain the team\u2019s struggles but also have prevented the Flyers from building proper chemistry.<\/p>\n<div id=\"TqqRS5\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" align=\"center\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Is there anything Naz can&#8217;t do    <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SoarWithUs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SoarWithUs<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lLJRKxveQx\">pic.twitter.com\/lLJRKxveQx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Southside Flyers (@SouthsideFlyers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SouthsideFlyers\/status\/1880902375483052059?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 19, 2025<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"hY7TLX\"><strong>Amihere, Lynx are on the hunt<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"PWiqwG\">Hillmon\u2019s Dream teammate, Laeticia Amihere, hasn\u2019t seen much court time in Atlanta. But in Australia, on the Perth Lynx, one of last season\u2019s finalists, she\u2019s one of the leading characters. Spending 25.7 minutes per game on the court, Amihere is averaging 15.9 points, 6.5 boards and 1.7 steals per game. <\/p>\n<p id=\"urzvH9\">In Round 12, the Amihere\u2019s Lynx defeated Hillmon\u2019s Flyers\u2014and it was a narrow one. The Flyers got off to an early lead and at one point were up by 16 points, but with five minutes left in the game the Lynx regained the lead thanks to a 14-0 scoring run.
