But then Volodymyr Zelenskyy had to go and ruin it by refusing to trade Ukraine\u2019s minerals for U.S. support. Now, Trump\u2019s dreams of a Nobel Peace Prize are on life support, and somehow, it\u2019s all Zelenskyy\u2019s fault.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggest that the Ukraine President was advised \u2014 nay, warned \u2014 by Trump\u2019s team to ditch his trademark military-style attire and don a suit for their meeting at the White House. A suit, in the U.S. president\u2019s eyes, is apparently the highest attainable form of respect \u2014 unless, of course, it\u2019s a cheap, ill-fitting blue monstrosity designed to \u201cdisguise\u201d the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/politics\/you-think-biden-can-do-that-trump-tries-to-school-biden-on-the-golf-course-but-all-we-see-is-a-sweaty-cheeto-with-a-jell-o-gut\/\">you\u2019re 100 pounds heavier than you claim to be<\/a>. But we\u2019ll get to that.<\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy, however, didn\u2019t comply. He arrived in all-black military garb, as if to remind the world that his country is still at <em>war<\/em>. Meanwhile, Trump greeted him at the entrance with a handshake and a snide remark: \u201cHe is all dressed up today.\u201d That\u2019s Trump-speak for \u201cI\u2019m offended, but I\u2019ll pretend it\u2019s a joke because I don\u2019t understand nuance.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;You&#39;re all dressed up! The Ukraine President doesn\u2019t get the luxury of dramatizing a paper cut; he\u2019s leading a nation at war, facing real injuries, real threats, and real bloodshed every single day. Meanwhile, Trump has no problem sitting in meetings with Elon Musk, <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/politics\/trumps-cabinet-proves-the-only-thing-they-lack-is-a-spine-as-they-chuckle-through-his-veiled-threats\/\">who shows up in a T-shirt and a baseball cap<\/a> like he\u2019s about to coach a Little League game.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting on Feb. 28 between the two leaders, predictably, <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/politics\/someone-tell-donald-trump-doormat-marco-rubio-stole-his-spotlight-america-would-like-to-see-the-secretary-of-states-resignation-first\/\">went off the rails.<\/a> Trump and his sycophantic sidekick, JD Vance, tried to pressure Zelenskyy into giving up Ukraine\u2019s mineral assets in exchange for vague promises of continued U.S. support. When Zelenskyy refused to cave, Trump reportedly grew more agitated, attempting to bully him into submission. Vance doubled down, <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/politics\/trump-vance-and-zelensky-have-a-shouting-match-on-live-tv-as-americans-see-who-their-leaders-really-are\/\">criticizing him for not showing enough gratitude<\/a>. It\u2019s astounding that Trump and Vance thought this two-bit intimidation tactic would work on a man who has literally faced down Russian tanks and refused to abandon Kyiv when bombs were falling around him.<\/p>\n<p>All of this ties back to Trump\u2019s favorite topic: himself. For months, he\u2019s been promising that he could end the war in Ukraine in \u201c24 hours.\u201d How exactly was he planning to do this? By handing Ukraine over to Putin on a silver platter? By making another \u201cdeal\u201d that benefits no one but himself? Zelenskyy rightly saw through it, understanding that agreeing to such a deal would have meant betraying his people and his country\u2019s sovereignty.
