(Wally Skalij\/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)\">Wally Skalij\/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jj-redick-told-dalton-knecht-to-be-prepared-to-sit\">JJ Redick told Dalton Knecht to be prepared to sit<\/h2>\n<p>In a video circulated by the team&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DGqYMwJJXG4\/?hl=en\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Instagram channel<\/a> following the 106-102 win for the LA Lakers over the LA Clippers, <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/jj-redick\/\">JJ Redick<\/a> had told Dalton Knecht to be prepared to stay seated on the bench.<\/p>\n<p>These plans were forced to change when Austin Reaves was forced out of the game with an injury, having played only nine minutes.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/dorian-finney-smith-vows-to-hold-the-line-as-lakers-receive-injury-news-for-rui-hachimura\/\">Rui Hachimura already missing through injury<\/a>, Redick had to adjust on the fly, and in came Dalton Knecht.<\/p>\n<p>Redick paid tribute to Knecht, speaking in the locker room post-game, hailing his professionalism.<\/p>\n<p>The coach said: &#8220;I&#8217;ll tell you what: I told Dalton before the game that he probably wasn&#8217;t going to be in the rotation tonight, but to be ready. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s a professional basketball player. You were huge, Dalton. This was the highest amount of minutes the rookie has been since he was traded.<\/p>\n<p>He scored eight points, 2-3 from three point range, also contributing 1 rebound and 1 assist during the win. <\/p>\n<p>This was a real team performance, and while Knecht was told to be ready not to play, he stayed prepared, and took advantage, impressing his coach.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the failed trade, <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/dalton-knecht-breaks-silence-on-his-two-phone-calls-with-rob-pelinka-over-lakers-hornets-trades-i-told-them\/\">Knecht made clear he just wants to play basketball<\/a>, with his <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/dalton-knecht-responds-when-told-hornets-are-not-giving-up-on-mark-williams-trade-reverse-his-choice-is-clear\/\">preference on the Lakers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He will hope this can be a turning point, with JJ Redick impressed, and praising him in front of the rest of the locker room and coaching staff.
