Buat setakat ini, laluan enam hingga lapan lorong di Lebuhraya Utara Selatan (PLUS) dari Kuala Lumpur ke selatan hanya berakhir di Melaka. Ini bermakna hampir keseluruhan jajaran lebuhraya berkenaan di Johor hanya mempunyai empat lorong. Keadaan ini bukan sahaja menyebabkan kesesakan di kawasan berkenaan pada waktu sibuk, malah ia juga telah menyebabkan banyak kemalangan maut berlaku.<\/p>\n
Justeru, mengambil kira keperluan peningkatan kenderaan, Kerajaan Madani bersetuju untuk melaksanakan projek pelebaran Lebuhraya PLUS daripada empat kepada enam lorong dilanjutkan dari Sedenak ke Simpang Renggam, Johor. Ia melibatkan kos peruntukan sebanyak RM931 juta di bawah Belanjawan 2024 yang dibentangkan oleh Menteri Kewangan merangkap Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lewat petang ini.<\/p>\n
Sebelum ini, Timbalan Menteri Kewangan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan pernah berkata Kementerian Kewangan telah mengadakan pembincangan dengan syarikat pengendali lebuhraya terbabit berhubung penambahan lorong daripada empat kepada enam lorong lebuh raya berkenaan membabitkan laluan antara Yong Peng hingga Skudai<\/a>. <\/p>\n Selain itu, ia turut menjadi menjadi fokus kerajaan Johor terutama dalam mengatasi kesesakan, akibat pertambahan kenderaan di Lebuhraya PLUS di negeri berkenaan.
