That was what happened recently with Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man, and also Blue Lock. For Spring 2023, that anime seems to be the latest season of Demon Slayer. <\/p>\n

If you look closely, most of the anime listed above are fast-paced shounen anime that come from popular genres like action, adventure, fantasy, and sports. It\u2019s only natural for most viewers to gravitate toward these superstars. However, if you\u2019re too focused on them, you\u2019ll miss lots of great stories that come from other genres. <\/p>\n

One of the most underrated genres that most people seem to miss is Slice-of-Life. It\u2019s a wholesome and heartwarming story about everyday life. And just like the previous season, Spring 2023 also has a great slice-of-life story that you should check out. It\u2019s called Insomniacs After School, and here are some of the things that you can expect to see from this new series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\nA Highly Relatable Story

\nAs the name suggests, Insomniacs After School is a story about a pair of high school students, Nakami and Magari, that are suffering from a terrible case of Insomnia. They can\u2019t sleep at night, so they end up feeling super sleepy during the day. Since they can\u2019t fall asleep during a lecture, they have to force themselves to stay awake, which leads to dreadful side effects, such as headaches or bad moods. This makes it difficult for both of them to concentrate during every lesson.<\/p>\n

One day, both of them accidentally stumble upon an unused club room at the top of their school. It used to be a club room for the Astronomy Club, but now it is just a forgotten warehouse. Magari found it first, but it was only when Nakami joined her that they began to repurpose the club to be their secret nap room. And that is how they finally found their own little safe haven in school. A place where they can rest their weary heads in peace.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s safe to say that all of us have dealt with insomnia at least once in our lifetime. We all have been that person who yawns in the middle of a lecture or work. That\u2019s why we all can relate to the feeling of wanting a safe place where we can take a short nap while in school or the office. So even though the premise of the story is rather simple, it still manages to be extremely relatable to quite a lot of people all around the globe.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Magari is a cheerful and energetic girl who would always be the source of laughter and excitement in her group. Be it the teachers or her fellow classmates, everybody likes Magari. She often yawns in the middle of a class, but everybody simply thinks about that as Magari being an airhead.<\/p>\n

Contrary to Magari, Nakami is a loner who often looks like he is in a bad mood. He rarely talks to his classmates, and his classmates rarely initiate a conversation with him unless they have to. Nakami often falls asleep during a lecture, but most of his classmates simply chalk it up as Nakami being his usual rebellious self. Nobody would ever think that both of them actually have a rather acute case of insomnia. <\/p>\n

They couldn\u2019t be more different, but that is what makes the dynamic between the two so interesting to see. And once you get to know them, you\u2019ll find out that Magari and Nakami are lovable and relatable in their own unique way.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nAs mentioned in the previous section, a slice-of-life story is all about following the characters as they engage in their day-to-day activities. There are no exciting or thrilling events on the horizon or any big objectives that they have to complete by the end of the story. It\u2019s just a story about some lovable characters doing some relatable activities.<\/p>\n

And just like most slice-of-life stories, Insomniacs After School also embodied those aforementioned qualities. Because at the core of it, Insomniacs After School features slow and calming tales that you can enjoy without having to think too much about the plot.<\/p>\n

So what is the appeal of a story like this? Well, there might come a time after a busy day when both your body and your mind are so exhausted that all you want is to watch a wholesome anime with a simple and relatable story that can put a smile on your face.
