TWR, the legendary sports car manufacturer created by British racing driver Tom Walkinshaw, will have a new lease on life. The revival is spearheaded by 32-year-old Fergus Walkinshaw, the oldest son of the company\u2019s founder. Fergus looks to revive TWR as an engineering company as well as a bespoke constructor of automobiles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n

\u201cIt gives me a great amount of pride that the TWR name will live on for a new generation. High-performance engineering runs in the blood of the Walkinshaw family, and ever since the original TWR closed its doors I have longed to find a way to continue the family legacy,\u201d said Fergus. \u201cThrough this new iteration of TWR we can not only celebrate the history and heritage of the original TWR, but also push the boundaries of our projects further than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Notably, he added that, \u201can engineering company that will make cars, rather than a car maker doing engineering. \u2026 We have scoured the performance and motorsport engineering worlds to assemble an incredibly talented technical team, including some members who were part of the original TWR, which just adds to our depth of knowledge and expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n

But exactly which companies the revived TWR will be working with was not stated, although the company released a teaser photo of what appears to be a rear fender. <\/p>\n

TWR, or Tom Walkinshaw Racing, was established in 1975, engineering such production cars as the Aston Martin DB7, Jaguar Sport XJR-15, and Jaguar XJ220. But Walkinshaw was a racer, and engineered any number of racecars, including the Le-Mans-winning Jaguar XJR Group C race car.<\/p>\n

What the new TWR will produce is a guess. But here\u2019s what Fergus had to say.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will make use of cutting-edge technology, combining new expertise with traditional craft to build world-class products that make a statement of what this new TWR is all about. We aim to build some truly impressive and innovative automobiles, unconstrained by the rulebooks and styling demands of OEMs.\u201d<\/p>\n
