Additionally, by centering the text while developing an application for Xbox, line-of-the-command tool, or any other application that involves improving the visual representation of text while user inputs, the user is likely to have a good experience in using that program.<\/p>\n

In this tutorial, we’ll dive into different methods to center-align text output in Java.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Using String<\/em> Formatting<\/h2>\n

The fastest way to center text in Java can be provided by using the String<\/em> class\u2019s format() <\/em>method<\/a>. Let\u2019s see the following example:<\/p>\n

In this test method, we\u2019d like to display “Centered Text<\/em>” within the total width of 20 characters. Hence, we calculate how many spacings are needed for both sides. Then, we fill up the required number of strings that have a length equal to the number of spacings by using a method called String.format()<\/em> to set the right amount of characters.<\/strong><\/p>\n
3. Using StringBuilder<\/em><\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n
Another way to center on building text is through StringBuilder<\/em><\/a>. It enables more alignment tweaking, hence being more flexible. Let\u2019s take the following example:<\/p>\n

In the above test method, we create a StringBuilder<\/em> where we pad it with spaces to add the required padding space and append our main content.<\/strong> Then, pad it again to add the rest of the padding spaces before printing the centered text.<\/p>\n
4. Using StringUtils<\/em><\/h2>\n

One more easy way to center text is utilizing\u00a0the center()<\/em> method of the StringUtils<\/em><\/a> class of Apache Commons Lang that was created especially for such purpose. Let\u2019s practice the following example:<\/p>\n

In the above test method, we use the center()<\/em> method of the StringUtils<\/em> class that takes the text<\/em> string and its total width.<\/strong> It then centers the text within the specified width.<\/p>\n
