The five-star prospect chose the Blue Devils over UConn, making his college decision after a\u00a0 recruiting process that drew national interest.<\/p>\n<p>The Newport, Maine native visited UConn in late September and the Huskies appeared to emerge as a real threat to land him. Ultimately, it ended up coming down to UConn and Duke, two historic programs known for their prestigious reputations and winning cultures,&#8221; Flagg said <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SLAM_HS\/status\/1718966619601359049\">in his commitment video<\/a>. &#8220;With that being said, I&#8217;ve decided to attend Duke University next year. After I got on campus, I really started to envision myself in Durham. All of the love I felt made me really excited, seeing all of the Crazies and the atmosphere in Cameron (Indoor Stadium), I&#8217;m honored that I have the opportunity to join the brotherhood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Duke has already landed commitments from five-star wing Isaiah Evans and guard Kon Knueppel, and top recruits V.J. Edgecombe (ranked No. 5 in the class by ESPN) and Pat Ngongba (No. 19) visited the school alongside Flagg during the program&#8217;s &#8220;Countdown to Craziness&#8221; event two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer has landed the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked recruiting classes in his first two cycles since taking over for the legendary Mike Krzyzewski.<\/p>\n<p>At UConn, head coach Dan Hurley brought in a top-5 class in the Class of 2023 which is headlined by five-star point guard <a href=\"https:\/\/uconnhuskies.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/stephon-castle\/13286\">Stephon Castle<\/a>, a consensus top-15 recruit, and the group of five freshmen is expected to play a large role in the upcoming season for the defending national champions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;UConn is second to no other program in college basketball, we don&#8217;t decide who we get, but no one should be off the board relative to whether they should be considering us. We do it, right now, as good as anybody,&#8221; UConn head coach Dan Hurley said Monday after speaking at the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s all types of ways of looking at the process, short-term, long-term, it&#8217;s all based on the individual. We&#8217;re most successful with people that just make a pure basketball decision \u2013 &#8216;I want to play for this coach, I love the way that they build the roster, this program has won the most championships, Storrs, Connecticut&#8217;s a great place to go and concentrate on my craft.&#8217; Again we&#8217;re blue-collar basketball, not social media basketball.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>UConn has landed two four-star commitments for the Class of 2024 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-sports\/basketball\/recruiting\/player\/_\/id\/252071\/isaiah-abraham\">Isaiah Abraham<\/a>, a 6-foot-7 forward, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-sports\/basketball\/recruiting\/player\/_\/id\/247481\/ahmad-nowell\">Ahmad Nowell<\/a>, a 6-foot-1 guard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I look at our recruiting, obviously we have to stick to our identity and what&#8217;s worked for us because it&#8217;s worked, the range we&#8217;ve recruited in has paid dividends,&#8221; Hurley said. &#8220;But then you&#8217;re also evaluating each recruiting class and its relative strength and what you should go for in a class. There may be incredible value in the 52nd-ranked player in the country in a class, to you maybe is a guy who&#8217;s a two-year player and you love his ability. Then, maybe in another class, a player that&#8217;s in that range you may not like and say, &#8216;I&#8217;m gonna shoot higher and if I don&#8217;t win there I&#8217;m going to the portal because I don&#8217;t think this high school player can help us.&#8217; I think it&#8217;s just, you&#8217;ve got to adapt and you&#8217;ve got to look at each class
