The Fiat Tipo <\/a>has been taken off sale in the UK after seven years, as part of a ground-up overhaul of the\u00a0Fiat line-up.<\/p>\n

The family hatchback and\u00a0estate models will be\u00a0indirectly replaced by the new\u00a0600e electric crossover<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tipo\u2019s departure leaves the 500 <\/a>and Panda<\/a>\u00a0as the Italian brand\u2019s only non-SUV cars on sale in the UK.<\/p>\n

It was never a core part of Fiat’s UK business, having been historically far outsold by its city-car siblings and the similarly sized 500X crossover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It remains available to order in other markets around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A Fiat<\/a> spokesperson told Autocar that the firm is \u201ccommitted to electric urban mobility\u201d\u00a0and as such the Tipo\u2019s indirect replacement in the UK will be the 600e, set to go on sale next month<\/a> from \u00a332,995 as a rival to the Kia Niro EV<\/a> and Volvo EX30<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 600e also\u00a0serves more directly as a replacement for the combustion-engined\u00a0500X<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shortly before being axed, the Tipo, which first went on sale in 2015, was available from \u00a328,745 or\u00a0\u00a329,245 in jacked-up, 4×4-inspired Cross form.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was one of four cars in the Fiat line-up made available with a mild-hybrid powertrain in 2021\u00a0but could also be bought with a 93bhp pure-petrol engine.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tipo\u2019s retirement leaves Fiat without a direct rival to the likes of the Ford Focus<\/a> and Vauxhall Astra<\/a>. However, Autocar understands that an electric supermini is inbound,\u00a0likely using the same EV architecture as the Vauxhall Corsa<\/a> and Peugeot e-208<\/a>,\u00a0as a spiritual successor to the old Fiat Punto supermini.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
