It takes Takemitchy a good while to put two and two together. \u00a0And even then he doesn\u2019t always get four. \u00a0But he does always at least arrive an answer. I can\u2019t say that the ending of this episode came as a complete surprise to me, as it was flagged pretty hard. \u00a0But it was still pretty unsparing by Tokyo Revengers<\/em> standards. \u00a0This series tries very hard to pretend the violent thugs at its core are something other than that, but events like Emma\u2019s murder make it a lot harder to maintain the illusion.<\/p>\n

One (at least this one) can never feel certain whether Wakui Ken get the fundamental truth about all this. \u00a0These are not innocents, none of them. \u00a0With the lifestyle they\u2019ve chosen, they really have no right to express surprise or dismay that tragedy seems to follow them everywhere. \u00a0Emma<\/a> is basically the same as Hina – an innocent bystander caught up in the gravitational pull of mass stupidity that is gang lifestyle. \u00a0Takemitchhy was always focused on her death and the role it played in changing the future, but that was his tunnel vision. \u00a0In truth it looks like the death of a different girl that serves as a nexus point.<\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The backstory stuff was pretty standard TMR<\/em> fare – fine, but nothing notable about it. \u00a0Humanizing Mikey is part and parcel of the series. \u00a0As for the Black Dragon angle teased last week, Inupi indeed nominates Takemitchy to be the 11th leader. \u00a0Mikey resists at first, but it\u2019s obvious he\u2019s just sulking. \u00a0Takemitchy being someone you\u2019d want to lead something or the kind of guy you wouldn\u2019t want to let go is another of Tokyo Revenger\u2019s<\/em> conceits you just have to look past. \u00a0For the moment that matter is on the back burner, as Inupi reckons Tenjiku is going to attack Toman the next day, the anniversary of Black Dragon\u2019s creation.<\/p>\n

Is there a difference between the likes of Izana and Kisaki and Mikey (this<\/em> Mikey), et al? \u00a0Sure – but in the big picture, they\u2019re all tarred with the same brush. \u00a0Flat-out murder<\/a> – and of his own half-sister at that – is another level from most of what we\u2019ve seen, true. \u00a0Izana and Kisaki (whose idea was it in the first place?) are scum on another level. \u00a0Kaku-chan was so horrified<\/a> he walked out on them (which is rather ironic). \u00a0But again, it\u2019s all par for the course in that corner of society. \u00a0It was decent enough as entertainment, anyway. \u00a0 We\u2019ll see what the next few weeks hold for TMR<\/em> as far as continued coverage is concerned.<\/p>\n
