Now, movies like &#8220;Black Widow,&#8221; &#8220;Black Panther: Wakanda Forever&#8221; and &#8220;Eternals&#8221; draw smaller crowds than their predecessors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After reports that Marvel is considering bringing back the original Avengers cast, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Blade?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Blade<\/a> was turned into a female &quot;life lessons&quot; movie, Kevin Feige and Bob Iger are claiming they&#39;ve been lied to and are dialing things WAY back. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bbgRJIUuWQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/bbgRJIUuWQ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MCU?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MCU<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Marvel?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Marvel<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/woke?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#woke<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bleeding Fool (@BleedingFool) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BleedingFool\/status\/1720569041138708835?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 3, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The franchise is better known for its woke storytelling than breakout hits these days, with only the recent &#8220;Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III&#8221; living up to expectations.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s why box office forecasts for &#8220;The Marvels&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofreel.com\/blog\/2023\/11\/5\/i5apgxalvbj08277q6ch932g78hr4v\"  rel=\"noopener\">are so gloomy.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Experts predict the film could make anywhere from $45 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficepro.com\/long-range-box-office-forecast-marvel-studios-the-marvels\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">$75 million<\/a>, a far cry from the MCU glory days. It&#8217;s also a dizzying step down from what &#8220;Captain Marvel&#8221; made in 2018 &#8211; $156 million in its opening frame.<\/p>\n<p>Disney, which owns the MCU, called in the reinforcements.<\/p>\n<p>Iron Man. Captain America.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/marvels-trailer-male-avengers-box-office\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FuwmDH12MAA4%2Fhqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube Video\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No, those MCU favorites don&#8217;t appear in &#8220;The Marvels,&#8221; featuring a trio of female heroes led by Brie Larson&#8217;s Captain Marvel.<\/p>\n<p>They do pop up in the just-released trailer meant to reverse the bad buzz surrounding the project. It&#8217;s odd to see a trailer released the day before a film opens, but Team MCU is in trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Send in Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans, the actors who played Iron Man and Captain America during the MCU heyday.<\/p>\n<p>So much for girl power.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer flashes back to the male heroes along with a time when the MCU could do no wrong. The hope? Connecting the classic MCU tales to &#8220;The Marvels&#8221; will coax some movie goers into theaters this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Up until recently, the marketing message behind &#8220;The Marvels&#8221; focused on three heroes with limited appeal.
