Their stories may be wildly different, but they transfixed generations with their rich characters and unforgettable thrills.<\/p>\n<p>Culturally speaking, the two couldn&#8217;t be further apart.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/chet-hanks-ziwe-apologize-woke\/\">King genuflects to the woke crowd,<\/a> apologizing for saying talent should matter more than diversity when it comes to art. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/j-k-rowling-doxxed-death-threats\/\">Rowling refuses to back down<\/a> after sharing her opinions on the trans movement.<\/p>\n<p>He went woke. She stood up for free expression.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/woke-stephen-king-mocked-for-marvels-defense\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2F__EN7KQXBEo%2Fhqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube Video\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, King knows he must continue appeasing the far-Left mob lest it turn on him in a New York minute.<\/p>\n<p>That explains why he ran to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing\/status\/1723875366907834660\"  rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;The Marvels&#8221;<\/a> defense on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. The latest MCU film bombed at the box office over the weekend, earning dramatically less than its predecessor and most Marvel titles.<\/p>\n<p>Its $47 million haul stateside, combined with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2023\/11\/12\/nolte-disneys-the-marvels-bombed-all-over-planet-earth\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">tepid global take<\/a>, will make it the lowest-performing MCU title &#8230; ever &#8230; without a miraculous word-of-mouth comeback.<\/p>\n<p>Some right-leaning news sites and film fans alike trumpeted the news, which coaxed King to fire off this message.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Some of the rejection of THE MARVELS may be adolescent fanboy hate. You know, &quot;Yuck! GIRLS!&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Stephen King (@StephenKing) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing\/status\/1723875366907834660?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 13, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a common refrain. Whenever a mediocre (or worse) Comic-Con style project fails it&#8217;s always the fans&#8217; fault. Remember how the Left and the media (but we repeat ourselves) reacted to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/paul-feig-still-denial-ghostbusters-flop\/\">Lady Ghostbusters film?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>King&#8217;s comment is merely a variation on that theme, ignoring the fact that &#8220;Barbie&#8221; remains the year&#8217;s highest-grossing film. And it had many &#8220;yucky girls&#8221; in it. So did recent hits like &#8220;Wonder Woman&#8221; and, of course, the 2019 &#8220;Captain Marvel&#8221; blockbuster.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Marvels&#8221; downfall is due to the MCU&#8217;s inability to build on its past success, reliance on &#8220;diversity&#8221; over grand storytelling and the loss of iconic characters like Iron Man and Captain America.
