Several \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d stars drifted to the Right after leaving the NBC series.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Or, at the very least, stopped singing from the progressive hymnal.<\/p>\n

Jon Lovitz. Rob Schneider. Jim Breuer. Dennis Miller. And, most notably, Victoria Jackson.<\/p>\n

The comedienne known for her Betty Boop-like tunes and athletic handstands<\/a> may be the most conservative of the bunch. Jackson says other \u201cSNL\u201d graduates also left the Left, except they\u2019re keeping it to themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t wanna lose work,\u201d Jackson says, a position she rejected a while ago. \u201cWhy are we whispering that we love our country?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s latest film finds her alongside performers who might agree with some of her political musings. She co-stars in \u201cJingle Smells<\/a>,\u201d a clean Christmas comedy following a garbage man (actor and “The Michael Knowles Show” producer Ben Davies) who becomes an accidental hero to the local children. Veteran actor John Schneider plays Davies’ patient pappy.<\/p>\n

It’s the first narrative feature to debut exclusively on Rumble, a freer speech alternative to YouTube.<\/p>\n

A critical “Jingle Smells” subplot follows the cancellation of an action movie star (wrestler James Storm) for declaring his love of God and country.<\/p>\n

The film casts Jackson as a progressive snowflake raging against the actor\u2019s opinions, while fellow \u201cSNL\u201d alum Breuer plays a news anchor sharing the latest updates. (The comic behind the “Goat Boy” character has dared to question the COVID-19 narratives<\/a>, drawing fury from the progressive Left.)<\/p>\n

Jackson jumped at the chance to mock the woke mindset, and she hoped to improvise some of her lines on set. Except she says she couldn\u2019t make it funnier than the script in hand, so she stuck to the plan.<\/p>\n

The Cancel Culture subplot speaks to Jackson, who likely has lost work for her unabashedly conservative views and aggressive takedowns of former President Barack Obama.<\/a><\/p>\n

She hopes that what Elon Musk dubbed the \u201cwoke mind virus\u201d is abating.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think things are starting to thaw .. and the pendulum swings back and forth,\u201d she says before striking a more serious note. \u201cI also believe in the Second Law of Thermodynamics \u2026 the world is in a state of entropy. I do expect things to always be getting worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson worked on \u201cSNL\u201d from 1986 to 1992, a time when the show hit both sides of the political aisle.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s no longer the case<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the \u201870s they were the rebels,” she says of the cast, dubbed the Not Ready for Prime-Time Players. “Now, to be a rebel means being a woke leftist propagandist,\u201d she says, adding the arrival of Obama on the scene permanent changed the show\u2019s approach to politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made fun of all the presidents equally [on ‘SNL’], but when Obama was the president, they wouldn\u2019t make fun of him. I think it\u2019s racist to treat a black person differently, and they treated him differently,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\u201cSNL\u201d alum Jay Pharoah, who played Obama on the show for a spell, later admitted the show, \u201cGave up on the Obama thing.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Jackson calls Nashville home these days, and she\u2019s happy to be in such a creative city. Fittingly, she has new album out this month called \u201cWhen I Get to Nashville<\/a>,\u201d which features her old pal Schneider\u2019s voice on the title track.<\/p>\n
