Iowa bettered Kansas State to capture the tournament title. <\/p>\n<p id=\"SEFxSx\">The No. 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackheartgoldpants.com\/\">Iowa Hawkeyes<\/a> (7-1) cleaned house in the Sunshine State of as they captured the Gulf Coast Showcase championship over the Thanksgiving holiday. On Sunday, they defeated No. 14 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bringonthecats.com\/\">Kansas State<\/a> 77-70 in the tournament\u2019s title game, avenging three-consecutive losses to the Wildcats, the most recent of which came on Nov. 16.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5wOFKd\"> It also marks the first regular-season tournament win for the Hawkeyes since the 2017-18 season. <\/p>\n<div id=\"e71y6F\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">3 wins. 3 days.  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Hawkeyes?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Hawkeyes<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4qWAPU4JKf\">pic.twitter.com\/4qWAPU4JKf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Iowa Women&#8217;s Basketball (@IowaWBB) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IowaWBB\/status\/1728973894529552668?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 27, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"5tSdez\">It was during that game on the 16th that the Hawkeyes looked lethargic and simply didn\u2019t play their game. The defeat also sparked feelings among some that all the hype surrounding them was just that\u2014hype. <\/p>\n<aside id=\"aSujc8\">\n<div data-anthem-component=\"readmore\" data-anthem-component-data='{\"stories\":[{\"title\":\"Iowa update: After an upset loss, the No. 5 Hawkeyes came ready to play\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/www.swishappeal.com\/ncaa\/2023\/11\/20\/23969451\/ncaa-women-bball-iowa-hawkeyes-kansas-state-drake-caitlin-clark-30-point-kate-martin-lisa-bluder\"}]}'><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"ak7BuI\">But on Sunday, the Hawkeyes proved doubters wrong once again\u2014not simply by playing their game but playing by it with a burst of energy. <\/p>\n<p id=\"bcRoj9\">When comparing the loss to Kansas State and Sunday\u2019s win over the Wildcats, two factors proved consequential. Not only did Caitlin Clark shoot significantly better from the 3-point line\u2014improving from 2-for-16 and 12.5 percent to 7-for-16 and 43.8 percent\u2014to finish with 32 points along with six assists and five rebounds, but also, in contrast to the contest 10 days prior, she wasn\u2019t alone. <\/p>\n<p id=\"lgt8n6\">Molly Davis was a significant factor, finishing with 13 points, four assists, and four rebounds as she earned all-tournament honors. Kate Martin recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sharon Goodman shot 66 percent from the field as she scored eight points and grabbed six boards.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ZHmecr\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This right here&#8230;  <\/p>\n<p>The moment the squad found out <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davismolly14?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@davismolly14<\/a> was named to the all-tournament team. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Hawkeyes?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Hawkeyes<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wgdbsiBf6I\">pic.twitter.com\/wgdbsiBf6I<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Iowa Women&#8217;s Basketball (@IowaWBB) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IowaWBB\/status\/1729194392148423014?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 27, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"175B0u\">Some additional stats include Gabbie Marshall adding a 3-pointer, Addison O\u2019Grady scoring six points off the bench and Sydney Affolter grabbing three rebounds. Even though the Hawkeyes were statistically comparable to the Wildcats, including shooting 42.2 percent from the field to K-State\u2019s 50 percent shooting, the victory was proof that, when everyone steps up, Iowa will get the result they are looking for. <\/p>\n<p id=\"6spPgL\">Hannah Stuelke was absent due to an ankle injury she sustained last Friday against Purdue Fort Wayne and her future status remains unknown. Given that, it is incumbent upon the Hawkeyes to utilize their improved depth to carry them through.
