The Dacia Duster<\/a> is unlikely to be offered as a battery-electric car<\/a> until the 2030s.<\/p>\n

Asked by Autocar how and when the Dacia\u00a0Duster will adopt pure-electric power, brand CEO Denis Le Vot simply replied: \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that such decisions are still a long way off, given the new Duster<\/a> is likely to remain on sale for the next eight or so years.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he believes that until around 2032, there will be sufficient \u201croom\u201d in the market for the Duster to remain \u201cmostly ICE-based\u201d.<\/p>\n

Le Vot said: \u201c[Our parent company] Renault<\/a> is going quick and massively on the electrification of the cars.<\/p>\n

\u201cDacia is also going, of course, because we know the endgame. But it\u2019s not going as quick. Dacia is offering an alternative at every moment on the market for mobility.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that combustion engines are Dacia\u2019s \u201cbread and butter\u201d and the brand is a \u201clife jacket\u201d for the Renault Group \u201cin this uncertain environment\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not a race to go electric as quick as possible. Maybe I could say the contrary. There are these two things that are moving at the same time. We just have to be consistent.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, we don\u2019t do nothing, because this is not possible. We are decarbonising step by step, so the first one is the LPG \u2013 10% less carbon \u2013 and the second one is when the pressure is coming and the market is demanding. Then we go on HEV [full hybrid].\u201d<\/p>\n

Le Vot added that \u201cwe will finish at some point of time fully electric\u201d\u00a0but that this would depend on individual model cycles \u2013 the Sandero is due for replacement around 2028<\/a> \u2013 and demand from international markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one can imagine that you would launch an ICE-only car in Europe that would live between 2028 and \u201934, correct?<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>At the same time, the percentages of electrification would be far from 100, and our cars have lives outside of Europe \u2013 Turkey, Morocco and North Africa,\u00a0Latin America and India.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We have here a dual offer to offer: we will be bi-energy, which is to say an electric version and an ICE version. We will see. We have time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
