So, it was only a matter of time before the discussion around <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/the-mummy\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>The Mummy 4<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em> <\/em>also resumed and it finally has.<\/p>\n<p>But not in the way long-time fans of Rick and Eve would have wanted.<\/p>\n<p>It all started when a poster for the said sequel started doing the rounds on social media.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2018THE MUMMY 4\u2019 is currently in development&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CygoZrHlJj\">pic.twitter.com\/CygoZrHlJj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; My Movie HQ (@MyMovieHQ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MyMovieHQ\/status\/1732417500594516179?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 6, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Not very professional-looking, but an accompanying logline for <em>The Mummy 4, <\/em>the lingering hope in hearts wanting to <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/movies\/how-to-watch-the-mummy-universe-movies-in-order\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">see the franchise<\/a> back to life, and excitement at seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/rachel-weisz\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Rachel Weisz<\/strong><\/a> returning as Evelyn proved to be a lethal combination as many readily accepted the \u201cannouncement.\u201d The logline in question stated the film, supposed to come out in 2025, is going to be \u201ca gripping tale of family, danger, and the unyielding pursuit of hope\u201d as Rick and Eve would have to embark on yet another impromptu adventure &#8211; to rescue their son from the \u201cmalevolent forces\u201d that have been holding him captive for the last three years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And what are these so-called evil entities hiding and what was Alex seeking? The \u201cFountain of the Persian Knights.\u201d Ooh, sounds so enticing and very much in line with the first three <em>The Mummy <\/em>films. But sadly, there are no such plans in place. Neither Universal Pictures nor any of the supposed star cast of the \u201cfilm\u201d has made any official announcements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With Fraser\u2019s revived fame in the background and 2017\u2019s <em>The Mummy <\/em>(starring Tom Cruise), Universal flaunting every single step of the sequel &#8211; if it is ever made &#8211; would be a no-brainer, especially if the studio does manage to rope in Weisz whose absence and replacement in the third film contributed to the negative reviews it garnered.<\/p>\n<p>Disappointing, we know. But what it\u2019s worth, this fake news does put <em>The Mummy 4 <\/em>back on the map, and with Fraser already <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/movies\/brendan-fraser-admits-returning-for-the-mummy-4-sounds-like-fun\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ready to come back<\/a> as the bold Rick O\u2019Connell,
