So why was Giannis, who grew up in Greece and didn&#8217;t play college basketball, wearing them?<\/p>\n<p>Well, Nike makes player exclusive sneakers for schools like UConn, Kentucky, Duke and others, and NBA players will occasionally wear them, whether they went to school there or not. Giannis wore a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/kentucky-wildcats\/news\/giannis-antetokounmpo-debuts-exclusive-kentucky-sneakers\/\">Kentucky-themed kicks<\/a> earlier this month. Kevin Durant, who went to Texas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courant.com\/2022\/12\/27\/kevin-durant-wears-uconn-sneakers-in-nba-game\/\">rocked a pair of UConn player edition sneakers<\/a> in a game last season.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;player exclusive&#8217; moniker means that they aren&#8217;t available for sale, so unfortunately for fans, they won&#8217;t have a chance to rock the same version of Husky-themed shoes that Giannis put up 64 in. His performance marked not only the highest scoring game by a Bucks player, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/leaders\/pts_game.html\">26th-highest total in NBA history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Giannis&#8217; sneakers being available as player exclusives, Nike released a pair of <a
