But the creation of this mystical universe is rooted in the real world, where <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/star-wars\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>Star Wars<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em> <\/em>iconic scenes have crazy and memorable backstories of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, apart from nailing \u201cmemorable\u201d only on screen, <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/Darth-vader\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Darth Vader<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s jaw-dropping hallway scene in <em>Rogue One: A Star Wars Story <\/em>is probably meandering the halls of Walt Disney Studios, waiting for someone to come forward and put an end to the long-stretched discussion that only takes away from the otherworldly wonder of the sequence (though that is hardly stopping fans from celebrating the scene today).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rogue One released 7 years ago today! <\/p>\n<p>One of the best Star Wars movies ever. It gave us the coldest Star Wars scene to ever grace our screens! Thank you Gareth Edwards! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pxDJrbPIIp\">pic.twitter.com\/pxDJrbPIIp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chopper (@Chopper_Rebel) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Chopper_Rebel\/status\/1736051996367413334?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 16, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It was today, exactly six years ago, when <em>Rogue One <\/em>hit theaters and blessed us with the iconic moment where the Rebel Alliance is stuck in a pitch-black hallway with the Sith Lord first striking terror with his telltale breathing and then slashing away the darkness as well as almost every breathing soul away as they fruitlessly tried to escape. Now, the director of the film was Gareth Edwards, so credit goes to him, right?<\/p>\n<p>Eh, the answer is sketchy and all the credit goes to 2023.<\/p>\n<p>You see, the year started with Freddie Prinze Jr., who voiced Kanan Jarrus in <em>Star Wars: Rebels<\/em>, claiming in an episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0sE3ZZTv8Uc\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Lights, Camera, Barstool<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em>podcast that the epic scene was, in fact, the genius of Dave Filoni, one of the exceptional brains behind the new era of the franchise.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cMaybe I\u2019m not allowed to say this, (but) Dave Filoni directed that scene in Rogue One where Vader comes through and you see basically what\u2019s going to happen in <em>A New Hope<\/em>. He directed all that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Is it possible? No idea, but that last soul-chilling magnificence was officially <em>not <\/em>in the original script and was added during the reshoots, just four months before the film\u2019s release. While we were waiting for a Lucasfilm executive to come forward to either shoot down or back the claim, September rolled in with fresh rumors &#8211; that Tony Gilroy (the <em>Andor <\/em>creator) who was brought in for the reshoot, effectively replaced Edwards and the latter was not even present when the new scenes were added to <em>Rogue One.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hmm. But back in 2017, Edwards had explained how the scene was actually <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/movies\/darth-vaders-most-epic-star-wars-scene-was-added-on-the-fly\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">editor Jabez Olssen\u2019s idea<\/a>. And when the Gilroy rumor hit the newsstand, the director once again came forward, this time in 2023 (via <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/film\/news\/rogue-one-gareth-edwards-inaccurate-reports-reshoots-tony-gilroy-1235741792\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Variety<\/a>), to put the \u201cinaccuracies\u201d aside.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe stuff that\u2019s out there on the internet about what happened on that film \u2014 there is so much inaccuracy about the whole thing. Tony [Gilroy] came in, and he did a lot of great work, for sure. No doubt about it. But we all worked together until the entire last minute of that movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So, who is telling the truth? Honestly, there is no way of confirming the truth until either Disney smooths out the wrinkles in the scene\u2019s origin story or well, the God of Truth, Apollo, himself descends to Earth and ends the lies once and for all.
