On Wednesday the Hoyas weren\u2019t given so much as a one sentence cameo by anyone during the Monumental PR event with Virginia officials at the proposed site not too far from National Airport.<\/p>\n<div id=\"aHbm6G\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" align=\"center\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Under the plan, both teams would move to a new facility anchoring a massive mixed-use development in Alexandria\u2019s Potomac Yard neighborhood, per sources.<\/p>\n<p>Cap One could still host concerts and college bball games. Earliest Caps\/Wiz could leave is 2027. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Hhw6NHgwHQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/Hhw6NHgwHQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sam Fortier (@Sam4TR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sam4TR\/status\/1734281427867271622?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 11, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"py2oXB\">On Thursday current Georgetown coach Ed Cooley was asked about his thoughts on the subject and he of course deferred to those above him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"JhCpcN\">\u201cFrom a coaching standpoint I think we have one of the elite college presidents, one of the elite college athletic directors &#8211; that\u2019s their job,\u201d Cooley said to a group of reporters at the TAC. <\/p>\n<p id=\"I7Qpqo\">\u201cMy job is to worry about Notre Dame, worry about Big East play. That will take care of itself however it does. We\u2019re excited to play there. We hope we\u2019re still playing there. Let them deal with it, that\u2019s there job not mine. My job is to worry about Notre Dame, seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"yvqyDI\">On Friday afternoon, former Georgetown coach (and current Monumental executive) John Thompson III was on with Grant and Danny on 1067 The Fan in the DC radio market and was asked about Georgetown remaining at Capital One. He thinks the Hoyas will stay put if the deal with Northern Virginia goes through for the Wiz\/Caps.<\/p>\n<div id=\"9TypjT\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" align=\"center\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JT3 was just on with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/granthpaulsen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@granthpaulsen<\/a> and asked about Georgetown staying at a reconfigured Capital One Arena.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t anticipate that changing. They are going to stay there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bobby Bancroft (@BobbyBancroft) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BobbyBancroft\/status\/1735758700248289748?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 15, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"oyJVSH\">The thought here is that Capital One Arena would stay open for the Mystics, Georgetown and smaller events in a reconfigured setup with the seating capacity dropped down to about 10,000. The final box score for Georgetown\u2019s 71-54 victory over Coppin State listed attendance at 2,924. And again as we\u2019re building and we\u2019re establishing ourselves here those crowds will change. Those crowds will change. Television impacts the timing. Maybe we don\u2019t play games during exams in that situation. There will be adjustments, maybe some tweaks made with the schedule for us to make sure &#8211; again we\u2019re just getting here. This is all new. I don\u2019t want to overreact because things have happened under which things have been done before. When it\u2019s all said and done the plane will land smoothly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"iCozTv\">And so there you have it. Capital One Arena is your home for Georgetown basketball until further notice.
