Last year the Lexus NX received a complete overhaul, with the highlight being the introduction of the NX 450h+ variant. This model not only stands out for its efficiency, thanks to an electric-only range, but also for its impressive speed.<\/p>\n

Derived from the same platform as the Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid, the 2023 Lexus NX 450h+ features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and hybrid system, delivering a combined 302 horsepower. Equipped with all-wheel drive, it offers a 37-mile electric-only range, slightly less than the RAV4 Prime’s 42 miles.<\/p>\n

Charging is efficient, taking only four and a half hours with a Level 2 240-volt charger using the standard 3.3-kW onboard charger, and reducing to two and a half hours with the optional 6.6-kW charger.<\/p>\n

The NX 450h+ offers another advantage over other trim levels\u2014performance. As the most powerful among its counterparts, it achieves a 0-60 mph time of 6.0 seconds, compared to the slower 8.6 seconds of the NX 250 AWD and NX 350h AWD, which reach 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. <\/p>\n

The benefits extend beyond power and EV range, as the 450h+ provides a superior ride and suspension setup compared to other NX models. While offering stability at high speeds, the overall driving experience leans more towards comfort than sport.<\/p>\n

Internally, the spotlight is on the new 14.0-inch touchscreen, part of an improved infotainment system, with a standard 9.8-inch screen. Although the system looks modern and is responsive, the digital instrument cluster lacks a similarly modern aesthetic. The steering wheel controls are also not user-friendly, since it takes a bit to figure out the settings. Wireless charging is included but has a flawed design, causing iPhones to easily slide on the pad and lose connection. This led to using the traditional wire for reliable charging.<\/p>\n

The NX offers ample space for passengers without compromising due to the plug-in hybrid powertrain. Cargo capacity remains consistent with other NX models, albeit without underfloor storage.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Lexus NX 450h+ starts at $57,705, and for those seeking more style. In summary, Lexus makes a strong entry into the plug-in hybrid market with the NX 450h+, combining the favorable features of the new NX with an extended electric range and enhanced power, making it the preferred version.<\/p>\n
