It\u2019s obviously difficult to find any positive reactions from movie critics about any film while it\u2019s still in production, but one critic decided to point out something positive about Star Wars<\/strong><\/a><\/em> and added a hint that it would be a success. In fact, he refers to one important factor that he believed already made it \u201cexceptional.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the success of American Graffiti<\/a><\/em>, George Lucas suddenly found himself with an opportunity to make Star Wars<\/em>. Previously, motion picture companies such as United Artists and Universal were not interested in Lucas\u2019 space opera, despite Universal signing him to a deal for Graffiti<\/em>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Alan Ladd, Jr. at 20th Century Fox stepped in and recognized Lucas\u2019 genius. He didn\u2019t quite understand the concept for Star Wars<\/em>, let alone what a wookie was, but he believed in Lucas as a filmmaker.<\/p>\n
