The tantalizing theory of a key character\u2019s return, explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-bottom: 15px;\" class=\"type:primaryImage\" src=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T140737.689.png\"><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>Warning: Spoilers ahead for <\/em>Arcane<em> season 1<\/em><\/strong> <em><strong>and season 2&#8217;s first-look trailer<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/arcane\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arcane<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u2019s Vander played the role of the honorable father figure that we could easily admire. Although, the very characteristics that made us fall in love with his character, also made it seem as if he had a death flag looming over his head from the moment he was introduced.<\/p>\n<p>Episode 3 of season 1, \u201cThe Base Violence Necessary for Change,\u201d proved this notion right. In a hero\u2019s last stand, Vander sacrifices himself and dies saving one of the two girls he had cared for and considered as his daughters.<\/p>\n<p>However, after the season finale, some fans, especially <em><a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/league-of-legends\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">League of Legends<\/a><\/em> players, were unsure whether Vander\u2019s story had truly, and unequivocally, ended. Some perceptive fans picked up on hints that Vander may be coming back, even if he will no longer be the same loving fatherly figure we got to know and care about during the first third of season 1.<\/p>\n<p>And now, with the newest teaser trailer, it seems these theories are confirmed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-will-the-uncaged-wrath-of-zaun-appear-in-season-2-of-arcane\">Will the Uncaged Wrath of Zaun appear in season 2 of <em>Arcane<\/em>?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T134434.151.png\" alt=\"Arcane Vander Singed season 1 finale + teaser trailer\" class=\"wp-image-1645070\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T134434.151.png 1200w, https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T134434.151.png?resize=564,317 564w, https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T134434.151.png?resize=640,360 640w, https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Design-sem-nome-2024-01-06T134434.151.png?resize=150,84 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screengrabs via Netflix<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It appears to be the case that Warwick, whose exact backstory \u2013 prior to the \u201cagonizing experiments\u201d done to him \u2013 is not <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tv\/every-league-of-legends-character-that-appears-in-season-one-of-arcane\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">featured in <em>League of Legends<\/em><\/a> lore, is in fact, Vander. There is little doubt now that the teaser showed the \u201cDoctor,\u201d Singed, seemingly content with his ongoing, twisted \u2013 and seemingly nearly finished \u2013 experiments.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Arcane: Season 2 | First Look | Netflix\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NF4sdChD0eQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>But prior to this surprising teaser trailer, the most telling evidence of this was when Jinx fired Fishbones at the Piltover council chamber in season 1, episode 9. Sting\u2019s \u201cWhat Could Have Been\u201d is playing and during the exquisitely powerful ending sequence, in a blink-and-miss moment, we see Singed looking down at a picture locket in his hands \u2013 presumably of the daughter he told Silco he \u201conce had\u201d \u2013 before he looks up at what many fans speculated to be, already at that point, a years-long work in progress: Vander\u2019s body which has \u2013 or is being \u2013 turned into Warwick.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>League of Legends<\/em> lore, Warwick, a werewolf-like man-made beast, focuses on hunting criminals in the undercity, specifically the ones who shed blood. This would mean Vander\u2019s morals wouldn\u2019t be completely flipped on their head, but we can assume that, as Warwick, many signs of the admirable man who was once known as the Hound of the Underground \u2013 some additional foreshadowing hinting at his later transformation into a \u201cwolf\u201d \u2013 will be gone.<\/p>\n<p>A fan and Redditor also made a few good speculative points when answering an OP who had a few doubts regarding the potential choice of bringing Vander back as Warwick:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-reddit wp-block-embed-reddit\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/arcane\/comments\/xr2x96\/comment\/iqd14g8\/\">Comment<\/a><br \/> by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/InterestingPicture43\/\">u\/InterestingPicture43<\/a> from discussion<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/arcane\/comments\/xr2x96\/lore_spoilers_am_i_the_only_one_who_doesnt_want\/\"><no value><\/a><br \/> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/arcane\/\">arcane<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It remains to be seen what the reinsertion of Vander into the story as Warwick would mean for the remaining characters and the overarching narrative. These lingering questions will surely be answered when <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tv\/heres-everything-we-know-about-arcane-season-2-on-netflix\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Arcane<\/em> season 2<\/a> finally drops sometime in November 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"type:primaryImage\"
