The Celtics youngest and oldest players are forming an unlikely friendship.<\/p>\n

BRIGHTON, MA \u2014 Change was the theme of the Boston Celtics<\/a> summer. Trades, signings, and goodbyes stole the headlines, but nestled beneath the chaos is Jordan Walsh, who the Celtics<\/a> selected with the 38th pick in this year\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n

Walsh began his Celtics career with a bang, impressing at Summer League with a flurry of three-point-heavy games and his constant intensity taking center stage. But as the rookie prepares for his time in Boston, he\u2019s looking to his vets to help him adapt.<\/p>\n

And in turn, he\u2019s formed a close relationship with Al Horford.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor sure, Al,\u201d Walsh said when asked who his go-to guy on the team is. \u201cI was talking to him before draft night. I was texting with him, talking about, \u2018You know, I think I\u2019m gonna be a Celtic I\u2019m excited to come work out with you.\u2019 To have a guy like him to give me advice\u2013 He\u2019s been here for so long, and he\u2019s still at the top of his game, so there is so much to learn from him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Horford will be entering his 17th NBA season this year at 37 years old, while Walsh will be embarking on his first at the age of 19. Yet despite their near-20-year difference in age, the two are already becoming quite the duo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was joking with him earlier,\u201d Walsh said with a grin. \u201cWe were talking about when he was going to college; I wasn\u2019t born yet. And I was like, \u2018Now we\u2019re teammates.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s amazing. I\u2019ve talked to him about other stuff. Of course, basketball, but also off-the-court stuff, like \u2018What suit should I wear to this gala?\u2019 Stuff like that. So he\u2019s been a mentor for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair\u2019s relationship spawned from Walsh\u2019s bond with former NBA player Charlie Villanueva, who connected with the Celtics rookie from a young age due to their journeys dealing with alopecia.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Villanueva said], \u2018Yo, he\u2019s probably going to come to Boston. You should probably talk to him, take him under your wing because he\u2019s a good guy,\u2019\u201d Walsh recalled.<\/p>\n

While their paths never crossed in the NBA, Horford and Villanueva played together on the Dominican Republic national team in the early 2010s, giving Walsh a direct line to connect with his new Boston teammate.<\/p>\n
