{"id":76927,"date":"2024-01-15T18:54:29","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T18:54:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/?p=1648245"},"modified":"2024-01-15T18:54:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-15T18:54:29","slug":"star-wars-and-john-wick-star-as-spider-mans-next-nemesis-would-do-the-mcu-a-huge-favor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gamefootballmobileanimeiphone.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/15\/star-wars-and-john-wick-star-as-spider-mans-next-nemesis-would-do-the-mcu-a-huge-favor\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Star Wars\u2019 and \u2018John Wick\u2019 star as Spider-Man\u2019s next nemesis would do the MCU a huge favor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-bottom: 15px;\" class=\"type:primaryImage\" src=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Spider-man-star-wars-star.jpg\"><\/div>\n<p>There are so many amazing potential villains for <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/tag\/spider-man-4\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spider-Man 4<\/a><\/strong> <\/em>\u2014 Scorpion (remember him from <em>Homecoming<\/em>?), Vincent D&#8217;Onofrio&#8217;s Kingpin (<a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/movies\/tom-hollands-return-to-the-mcu-as-spider-man-has-just-been-given-the-perfect-set-up-in-the-last-place-youd-expect\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no, I&#8217;m not letting that one go<\/a>), and Jared Leto&#8217;s Morbius (no, wait, scratch that last one). <\/p>\n<p>But what Marvel and Sony really need is someone who can bring something fresh to the franchise as well as perhaps tapping into another arm of Spider-Man media that is universally beloved. So what about skipping the usual suspects and having Tom Holland&#8217;s wallcrawler face off against Mister Negative? <\/p>\n<p>Mister Negative is a character who needs no introduction for anyone who&#8217;s played Insomniac&#8217;s <em>Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man<\/em>, which plucked the villain from obscurity to make him a modern-day counterpart to Norman Osborn&#8217;s Green Goblin, what with his dual personality. His unique visual look is also a major draw for the foe and would be intriguing to see realized in the movies. <\/p>\n<p>OK, so let&#8217;s say Negative in <em>Spider-Man 4 <\/em>got a positive reception at Marvel Studios; who could play him? Fans have the perfect answer. Namely, Donnie Yen, the master martial artist probably best known to American audiences for <em>Rogue One <\/em>and <em>John Wick: Chapter 4<\/em>. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-reddit wp-block-embed-reddit\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:500px\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/marvelstudios\/comments\/1972l7n\/donnie_yen_for_a_liveaction_mister_negative\/\">Donnie Yen for a live-action Mister Negative.<\/a><br \/> by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/AbeliousAugustus\/\">u\/AbeliousAugustus<\/a> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/marvelstudios\/\">marvelstudios<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In case you need your memory jogged, Yen&#8217;s role in the <em>Star Wars <\/em>universe was Chirrut \u00cemwe, a blind semi-Jedi monk, while he turned up in the most recent <em>John Wick <\/em>flick as Caine, a blind assassin. Although Mister Negative isn&#8217;t blind, Yen would no doubt relish a role like that as he was very keen during these two prior Hollywood appearances to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/film\/news\/donnie-yen-john-wick-4-asian-stereotypes-changed-script-1235539916\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subvert expectations and tropes<\/a> surrounding Chinese characters. Negative&#8217;s a well-rounded antagonist who doesn&#8217;t fall back on such stereotypes so you&#8217;d imagine Yen would jump at the chance if it were presented to him. <\/p>\n<p>Of course, one significant hitch to casting Yen as Mister Negative would be the fact that the actor is currently 60 years old and the Spider-Man villain is generally depicted as a man of younger years. An alternate, and equally tempting, actor suggested in the comments to this Reddit thread is Terry Chen, who you might know from <em>The Expanse <\/em>or <em>The Last of Us<\/em>. Chen even has MCU history, playing Pryce Cheng in <em>Jessica Jones <\/em>season 2. <\/p>\n<p>However <em>Spider-Man 4 <\/em>shapes up, it had better get its act together fast as fans are getting antsy (spidery?) for more of Tom Holland&#8217;s Peter Parker, preferably with <a href=\"https:\/\/wegotthiscovered.com\/celebrities\/tom-holland-names-the-mcu-movie-he-likes-to-watch-for-a-romantic-night-in-with-zendaya\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more of Zendaya&#8217;s MJ
