I know, I know. I am can’t really call myself a “beauty blogger” anymore because WHERE are the makeup posts?? I ask myself that all the time and I am still having a hard time getting “dolled up” on my days off with nowhere to go. If I were smart, I would use the days that I go into work to document my journey with makeup, but I don’t do that (anymore) for two reasons – the first being that I never seem to have enough time to take photos because I always get caught up doing something else that eats into my morning time and the second being that my work makeup is nowhere near as glam as blog makeup. Photos for the blog and social media need LASHES which if I don’t have on the Falscara wisps, makeup kind of looks “wah wah” in photos. This leads me to say probably for the umpteenth time that I am not a morning person and makeup needs to be foolproof and fast! <\/span><\/div>\n

I have had months to play with the Bobbi Brown<\/b> Long Wear Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow Sticks and after trying a few of this type of product from different brands, I can’t say I was supremely wowed by these considering the price. These swipe and go eyeshadow sticks promise 24 hour wear time while being blendable even with fingers (no brush required), budgeproof, non-creasing, non-flaking, true to colour all while being smooth and creamy. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I received three of the eyeshadow sticks in the travel sizes (two metallic finish and one matte finish), which for review purposes, I actually found pretty convenient as I even took them to Paris with me! The full size pencil is $44 CDN comes in 24 shades. I am guessing the minis were a limited product, but the shades selected were a good sampling of neutrals that most people would wear.<\/div>\n

Golden Bronze, a deep bronze sugar, is the shade I am wearing in the photos below and the one I wear almost every day. It is a shade I would have picked up on my own and between this and Golden Pink, a shimmering pink peach, Golden Bronze just shows up better on my skintone. Unfortunately, Golden Pink barely looks pink on me and just looks “icy” so when I have used it, I have used it for highlighting the inner corners (what I did in the photos below) or even my cupid’s bow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Cashew, from the Real Nudes collection, is a medium red tone beige and is a good base shade to pack colour on top of the lid or for a very minimalist look.<\/div>\n

While, the formula of these pencils is indeed creamy enough for fingers to blend, I don’t like doing it as I feel the edges of my makeup look messy. I much prefer a brush to blend out the colour and provide a “roundness” to the outer V of my eyes.<\/p>\n

Longevity is the main reason I enjoy using shadows like this and even with primer, these eyeshadow sticks do not last the whole work day on me. The colour on my lid starts to get a little bit patchy and less intense about halfway through the day and this is with multiple primers and thrice spraying my face with setting spray. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Final verdict: <\/b>I don’t find these too different from other luxury brands with this type of product, but what would get me to purchase a shade is to find a neutral colour that I don’t already have because that is now what I look for in these longwearing eyeshadow sticks. I would definitely compare these to the Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeshadow sticks as the wear time is about the same and the ease of application is a plus as you can’t really make a mistake with them. If I find a shade that works for me, I would definitely get one as the colour payoff IS good and even though the colour does fade by the end of the day, it’s not entirely noticeable at a glance. These were still better than some of the other eyeshadow sticks I have tried so I think these are still worth the purchase should you be looking for a foolproof, fairly longwearing eyeshadow look!<\/div>\n
