Almost the entire growth is due to sales to rental companies, up 74.6% to 7,238. Private sales grow 6.3% to 34,037 and company sales actually regress at -1.6% to 27,410. Despite this robust score, we remain 20.5% below the pre-pandemic level of January 2020. Toyota (+14.8%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country and sees its market share surge to 11.1% vs. 8.4% over the Full Year 2023. Seat (+14.7%) also beats the market and is up five spots on December to #2 with 7.4% share. Kia (-2.2%) is up two to #3 and Hyundai (+19%) down one to #4. Peugeot (-4.2%) and Dacia (-10.8%) can jump on the positive bandwagon whereas BMW (+73.2%) and Mercedes (+16.6%) shine. Volkswagen (-14.8%) and Renault (-14.5%) are in trouble. Below, MG (+136.7%), Tesla (+206.4%) and Mitsubishi (+274.2%) stand out.<\/p>\n<p>The Dacia Sandero (+1.7%) trails the market but returns to the pole position it held over the Full Year 2023. The Toyota Corolla (+37.5%) its just 90 sales below and climbs three ranks on last month to #2. Leader in December, the MG ZS (+313.7%) falls to #3 ahead of the Seat Leon (+346.2%) up 30 spots on last month to #4 vs. #53 over the Full Year 2023. The Toyota Yaris Cross is up 81.6% year-on-year to an excellent 5th place vs. #14 over FY2023 with the Hyundai Tucson (+30.1%) and Toyota RAV4 (+51.3%) also in great shape in the remainder of the Top 10.
