The sun is still shining, but the Storm got the best of the Sparks, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swishappeal.com\/2024\/1\/26\/24051691\/wnba-free-agency-nneka-ogwumike-los-angeles-sparks-jordin-canada-skylar-diggins-smith-chiney-miller\">Nneka Ogwumike taking her talents to Seattle<\/a> and leaving the City of Angels star-less. <\/p>\n<aside id=\"ttvk4s\">\n<div data-anthem-component=\"readmore\" data-anthem-component-data='{\"stories\":[{\"title\":\"With Nneka Ogwumike leaving Los Angeles, what\u2019s next for the Sparks\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/www.swishappeal.com\/2024\/1\/26\/24051691\/wnba-free-agency-nneka-ogwumike-los-angeles-sparks-jordin-canada-skylar-diggins-smith-chiney-miller\"}]}'><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"1IjaNM\">She&#8217;s not the only key player leaving the Sparks. Katie Lou and Karlie Samuelson also have exited the team, while Atlanta acquired Jordin Canada and the the No. 12 pick in the 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swishappeal.com\/\">WNBA<\/a> Draft in a trade that sent guard Aari McDonald and the No. 8 pick back to the Sparks. <\/p>\n<p id=\"IBVCHz\">The trade indicates that the team is rebuilding and focusing on getting as many picks as possible in this year&#8217;s draft, and given the pool of players the might be available, that\u2019s not such a bad idea. Los Angeles now has three first-round picks, two of which are in the lottery.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ce05Z3\">On social media, the team highlighted those picks, along with an image of Azur\u00e1 Stevens and Zia Cooke, to signal the exciting future of the franchise. However, the market is the market.
