Police officers<\/a> in the Trnava region of Slovakia likely believed they were being pranked when they observed a brown hunting dog seated behind the wheel of a Skoda Kamiq in footage captured by a speed camera. The canine appeared to have everything under control, calmly operating the small SUV on public roads without any indication of human passengers in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The mystery was resolved a few minutes later when a police patrol intercepted the Skoda Kamiq<\/a>, which had been seemingly driven by the dog, in the village of Sterusy for driving 10 km\/h or about 7mph over the speed limit. The vehicle’s owner, a 31-year-old male, initially asserted that his dog had unexpectedly leaped onto his lap. However, the video footage contradicted this explanation.<\/p>\n

The man’s loyal companion couldn’t understand his owner’s misbehavior, prompting the officers to fine the human for breaching traffic regulations. It remains unclear whether the vehicle owner was fined for speeding or for neglecting to properly secure his pet in a moving vehicle. In any event, such behavior is unacceptable behind the wheel, as pets should not be in control of a vehicle independently, regardless of their training.<\/p>\n

While this is not the first time we come across a dog with a driver’s instinct<\/a>, it is certainly not a common sight. In a humorous social media post, Polícia SR Trnavský kraj officers clarified that the photo was genuine and not edited. In jest, they mentioned canceling the adorable canine’s hunting plans for the day. The police also emphasized that “even a small animal can endanger your life and health while driving,” urging drivers to ensure that their pets are always properly secured inside the vehicle before hitting the road. It’s a funny thing that Skoda is among the most dog-friendly automakers<\/a>, offering plenty of accessories designed to make pet owners’ lives easier.<\/p>\n
