The 33rd Palm Beach Cavallino Classic is an event celebrating everything Ferrari. Held yearly at Palm Beach, Florida\u2019s iconic Breakers Resort, it is a combination of sea, sun and shiny things. These things all share a simple, yet identical trait: They proudly display the Cavallino Rampante<\/em> (literally, the \u201cPrancing Horse\u201d) on their flanks. <\/p>\n

The event was founded by Cavallino Magazine<\/em> publisher John Barnes in 1992. Acquired in 2020 by Canossa Events, it has expanded to include events in the United States, Italy, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Luigi Orlandini is the passionate caretaker of the Cavallino Classic. The CEO of Canossa Events, he is a resident of Italy\u2019s Motor Valley, born about 30 minutes from the Ferrari factory. \u201cAll the other Italian brands like Lamborghini, Maserati, Pagani, Dallara, and Ducati are within an hour of us,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

The Cavallino features classic Ferraris that have been preserved and restored through the decades. Still, Orlandini intends to bring it into the future. \u201cWe need to attract new generations of enthusiasts. It\u2019s a lifestyle event. We are encouraging young people to attend. The event has a partnership with West Palm Beach\u2019s Dreyfoos School of the Arts.<\/p>\n

The 1968 Ferrari 312 Formula 1 car was driven by Jacky Ickx to victory in the soaked 1968 French Grand Prix. The only surviving 1968 312, it resides in Florida as part of the John Schumann collection. The 2023 Ferrari SP 3 Daytona is a mid-engine supercar powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine making 829 horsepower. It receives design inspiration from the 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 endurance race car, which won the 1967 24 hours of Daytona. <\/small>Photo: Mark Elias<\/small><\/p>\n

The 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring (racing number 31) saw competition at Le Mans, Watkins Glen and Bridgehampton. Ordered by Wall Street financier Charles Moran, this is chassis # 0100 E. It featured a Colombo-designed short block 2.6-liter V-12 engine that delivered a whopping 170 hp. <\/small>Photo: Mark Elias<\/small><\/p>\n

1964 Ferrari 250 LM is number 22 of 32 units built. With a body designed by Pininfarina and coachwork by Scaglietti, it is powered by a 3.3-liter V-12 engine with three Weber carburetors. 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione is a race winner, having won the Coppa D\u2019Oro race at Monza in 1960 driven by Carlo Marie Abate. The original engine has undergone restoration and is once again in the car. 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Ghia is a \u201cone-off\u201d being the only Ferrari bodied in this elegant style, and one of 34 Ferrari cars with coachwork by Ghia. The car\u2019s first owners were President Juan Peron of Argentina and his wife, Eva. She may be better known by her affectionate name, Evita. <\/small>Photo: Mark Elias<\/small><\/p>\n

1951 Ferrari 212 Export Vignale Berlinetta was one of 27 Exports of which seven were Vignale Berlinetta models. It was originally built for Prince Vittorio Massimo, who was a descendent of Roman aristocracy that included two popes, several politicians and a couple artists. 1990 Ferrari F40 was built to celebrate Ferrari\u2019s 40th anniversary. With bodywork designed by Pininfarina, it was constructed using composite materials.
