The Indian automobile industry is undergoing a major transformation with the rise in popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) and introduction of new body styles like coupe SUVs. Two highly anticipated upcoming models that combine both these trends are the Tata Curvv and the Mahindra XUV e.9. These India-centric coupe SUVs aim to bring a unique blend of style, comfort, performance and sustainability for the discerning Indian buyer.<\/p>\n

Tata Curvv Coupe SUV<\/h2>\n

Unveiled recently at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024<\/a>, the Tata Curvv preview model provides the first complete look at what is slated to be Tata\u2019s first coupe SUV offering. Instantly recognizable by its sloping rear windshield and curvaceous silhouette, the Curvv aims for a sporty and bold design direction.<\/p>\n

On the outside, the Curvv features Tata\u2019s latest design language with split LED headlamps, flush door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels. At 4,308mm long and with a wheelbase of 2,560mm, it promises to be a properly large coupe SUV for India. From the teasers revealed, the Tata Curvv’s interior<\/a> takes heavy inspiration from the recently updated Tata Nexon with similar dashboard layout, touchscreens and controls. Premium features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, connected car tech are also expected.<\/p>\n

The Curvv is confirmed to launch with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Power output is rated at 113hp and 260Nm torque promising an engaging drive experience. Additionally, an all-electric variant has also been confirmed showing Tata\u2019s EV capabilities. The Curvv EV could sport the similar Ziptron technology as seen on the Nexon EV.<\/p>\n

Safety is said to be a priority on the Curvv with features like rear disc brakes, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring and more. Tata stated that the official launch of the Curvv<\/a> should happen later in 2024. With its standout looks, feature loaded cabin and green powertrain options, the Curvv promises to capture the imagination of style-conscious Indian buyers.<\/p>\n

Mahindra XUV e.9 Electric Coupe SUV<\/h2>\n

Joining the coupe SUV bandwagon is Mahindra\u2019s flagship XUV e.9 model, which belongs to a bigger, higher segment. Recently the XUV e.9 was spotted testing in Bangalore<\/a>, the test mule sported camouflage indicating an advanced stage of development. As the name suggests, the e.9 will be an electric powered coupe version of Mahindra\u2019s new XUV e.8 7-seater EV SUV. The Mahindra XUV e.9 design patent<\/a> was leaked in January and it was quite similar to the concept version<\/p>\n

The XUV e.9\u2019s front fascia even under cover shows an imposing, upright stance reminiscent of the standard XUV700. Flared wheel arches, side running boards and dual tone alloy wheels hint at the muscularity. However, it\u2019s the sloping rear windshield line that gives away the coupe intent similar to the Tata Curvv. Interiors are expected to be largely shared with the XUV e.8 with dual digital displays and premium materials.<\/p>\n
